Where is the source to run the pugleaf server locally?
go-pugleaf is not released yet.
I'm testing, and fixing bugs, so you don't have to.
webserver and fetcher works great but nntp-server has quirks.
history and hashdb have performance and memory issues.
both disabled and there is no central db for message-ids.
reading via nntp-server works but only group->artnum.
posting or peering does not exist yet...
and the fetcher eats memory when sucking with hundreds of conns :D
Source will appear here anytime soon:
https://pugleaf.net
or
https://github.com/go-while/go-pugleaf (repo is still private)
If you want to run it anyways: hit IRC!
To go nuts with 500-1000 conns and download all usenet:
CPU 1-4 cores and 16G ram is mostly fine (more is better).
SSD preferred but runs well on trad drives too.
You should know how to walk in terminal and manage a server.
go-pugleaf is native Go and compiles for any OS/arch:
Linux, Mac and Windows too but I've tested on Linux only.
It runs as unprivileged user. no root access needed to run it.
