    maximize how much each person spends.

    The more she uses the app, the more she will the get offers
    McDonald's believes will get her to spend the most.
    She'll also get some valuable deals, too, from time to time. To
    help ensure she continues to use the app. Basically, loss leaders of
    sorts.
    If she's clever, she might be able to use only those. But the
    algorithm will catch on in time, and cease offering them. Until then,
    she can do very well.
