Betreff: Official ISO AFU Eggnog
It's that time of year again, and I'm once more challenging Leslie
Land's copyright by reproducing her eggnog recipe. I thought the coffee >people might like it too; mind your crossposts.

GALA EGGNOG FOR CHRISTMAS DAY: 24 portions, enough for 4 eggnog-lovers.
Beat 8 whole eggs and 10 egg yolks with 2 cups of sugar until the mixture
is very fluffy and thick and pale. It should fall off a wooden spoon in
flat folds instead of pouring. When this thickness is achieved, beat in
a fifth of brandy. Strain the mixture and chill it overnight.
Whip 1 quart plus 1 cup light cream (or 2 cups milk mixed with 3 cups
heavy cream) just enough to aerate it, then beat in the egg mixture.
Still beating, pour in 1 1/2 cups of milk, 1 cup of 151 proof dark rum,
and 2 cups of golden rum.
Beat 2 cups of heavy cream until it forms limp, slouchy peaks, and gently >stir it in.
Pour the eggnog into a punchbowl and sprinkle the surface with cognac
until it is well-pocked. Have the nutmeg grater near, and a platter
of cookies close by.

However you choose to toast the Return of the Light, cast a thought
towards those who perhaps perceive a different one. The AFU people include >Carl, Chris, Nina, Matthew, and Madeleine.
