I didn't have fortune on the Fedora box and when I installed it I got fortune-mod and a whole list of data files. On the Ubuntu box 'apt install fortune gets fortune-mod. If you want the data files it's 'apt install fortunes' for the data files.

1992, IBM had one of the largest losses in the history of US companies

rCLBell Labs Unix -- Reach out and grep someone.rCY

For those too young to remember (which would be most of the audience,
I suspect), Bell Labs was part of AT&T, which was a monopoly over
pretty much the entire US telephone system at the time. Its slogan was
    rCLReach out and touch someonerCY.

I'm not too young and am well aware that Bell Labs was part of AT&T,
but never having been exposed to any AT&T advertising or promotional material, I was unaware of their slogan. So thanks for that info.

Same here. And I was a Lucent employee, one of the Baby Bells, that
owned the labs. But not in the USA.

So thanks for the info. And thanks John for the video.

US use of the word "Liberal" is different to the rest of the world.

Indeed. Here "the liberals" are the historic right wing.

Given the bailiwick of this noisegroup, perhaps itrCOs worth pointing
out the unadulterated usage of the terms rCLconservativerCY and rCLliberalrCY in the Postel Principle:

Be conservative in what you produce, and liberal in what you accept.
