    Hello,

    Is it me or is YouTube.com's videos autoplaying even though its player
    shows autoplay off? I'm using Firefox v145.0.2 in my updated 64-bit W10
    Pro. PC.

    Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

    Win 11 Home 25H2... Ffox 145.0.2... YouTube's player comes up
    indicating "Autoplay is on" but content is blocked by my config
    settings. That's without signing in.
    Not being a regular YT user, I have no intention of logging into
    Googly to change/test their setting. It'd prolly be ignored anyway as
    I kill cookies on closing Firefox.

    I do occasionally hear (rather than see) things playing, particularly on a channel home page. It could be that YouTube has found a way to get Firefox
    to interpret the most innocuous user actions as a cue to start playback.

    Not happening to me, in any of my various machines (some with google
    login, some without), except on my kitchen TV.

    The TV works differently. I choose the youtube app in the tv; then I
    choose some video on the phone, and tap "cast" to send it to the TV set.
    When that video ends, it starts another a few seconds later, and I have
    not seen yet a button to disable this. FFx is not involved in this case.

    I barely noticed that YouTube changed the controls and their positions recently. I dunno. Those about:config autoplay settings are older. :)

    OK, I tried it again.
    The autoplay switch in the player prevents playing the
    next suggested video, not autoplay on pageload.

    What works is Mr. Man-wai Chang's solution:

    media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true
    media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2
    media.autoplay.default = 5

    Also strange: the autoplay switch doesn't appear
    in music playlists and always loads the next song
    and also autoplays after pageload. (with above settings)

    Both Firefox and YouTube changed in terms of autoplay in recent years.
    Maybe we need new switches.

    Click the gear symbol in YouTube's videos.... maybe related.

    Do you mean automatically starting the video when you click on a youtube

    What about in v145.0.2?

    NO YT sites auto start for me (SM 2.53.22).

    Yeah, mine doesn't autostart in old SM too.

    In about:cofnig, search for "autoplay". make sure that:

    media.autoplay.block-event.enabled = true
    media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2
    media.autoplay.default = 5

    Perfect and thanks!!!! This seems to work. Mozilla should make these by defaults.

    At least, not with YouTube. There are news media sites that are very
    insistent on having their videos download and play. And when you browse
    down, a small pop up video window appears. It is a pest on mobile
    phones, making us download videos when it is possible that we have to
    pay the download. Or we are in a place where silence is required.
