• Windows 11 Pro 24H2 Bios Updates?

I came across this today in
    C:\Users\Your ComputerName\OneDrive\\temp\OneDC_Updater\Hotfix
where it appears my MSI Computer has under gone several bios updates.
My confusion is I thought I had blocked or gotten rid of OneDrive.
If somebody else has this on their computer maybe that can enlighten me (Paul?).

The French post at the end says

"OneDC likely refers to One Dragon Center, a monitoring and update utility used
in MSI products, often to manage BIOS updates and system optimization. The files
appear to be related to firmware updates, patches, and system executables used
    by this tool.

XML files describe updates or fixes (for example, NBSDK_Update_0053.xml points
    to a BIOS update (NBSDK_Update_0053)).

The UpdateFW.txt log records actions related to brokers and system service updates,
noting that "This system is not running One Dragon Center" (UpdateFW).

In short, this is part of a set of update files for managing MSI system firmware
and drivers through the One Dragon Center application.
    "

One of the motherboard companies, lost their chain of custody. What this means is,
if they issue updates, they can't be sure that the updates are getting applied properly. Some crypto isn't working right.

Whether Microsoft is playing any part at all, in what you're seeing, I don't know.
Some motherboards (my Asus with its ArmorCrate), can attack from the BIOS and offer software to you. For the MSI thing, nobody mentions nuisance Notifications
or prompts that are bubbling forth from the BIOS. And if you're not running Dragon Center, there should be fewer ways for them to be messing around.

"The MSI OneDC drive updater saves to the OneDrive temp folder as a precautionary measure to ensure that updates are not lost during the
update process. The temp folder is a temporary storage location that is automatically created by the updater to store any temporary files that
may be generated during the update. This helps in maintaining the
integrity of the update process and ensures that any updates are
successfully saved and can be accessed later. The temp folder is
typically located in the user's Documents folder and is not a cause for concern as it is a normal part of the 'MSI' update process."

i.e. Getting rid of OneDrive or blocking it does not prevent a 3rd party app/program/OEM updater from creating a folder or using an orphan folder.

I will have to look at this a little more. Between 9/25/2024 and 12/3/2025
it has received 13 bios updates. Hopefully this is good.
