1) Numbers 8, Numbers 9, Numbers 10
NUMBERS 8
The Seven Lamps
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Ex 25:37) Speak to Aaron and say to him: When you set up the lamps,
the seven lamps will give light before the lampstand.
3 Aaron did so. He lit the lamps before the lampstand,
as the Lord commanded Moses.
4 (Ex 25:9; 25:18) And this was the work of the lampstand:
hammered gold, to its shaft, to its flowers was beaten work.
According to the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses,
so he made the lampstand.
Numbers 8
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the
seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.
[3] And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
[4] And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the
pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.
Consecrating the Levites
5 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and cleanse them.
7 (Lev 8:6; Nu 19:13) Thus you will do to them to cleanse them: Splash purifying water on them, and let them shave their whole body, and let
them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
8 (Lev 2:1) Then let them take a young bull with its grain offering,
also fine flour mixed with oil, and you will take another young bull
as a sin offering.
9 (Ex 40:12; Lev 8:3) You will bring the Levites
before the tent of meeting. And you will gather the whole assembly
of the children of Israel together.
10 (Lev 1:4; Ac 6:6) And you will bring the Levites before the Lord.
And the children of Israel will put their hands on the Levites.
11 (Lev 7:30) And Aaron will offer the Levites before the Lord as a
wave offering of the children of Israel, that they may do the service
of the Lord.
12 (Ex 29:10; Lev 1:4) The Levites will lay their hands on the heads
of the bulls, and you will offer one as a sin offering and the other
as a burnt offering to the Lord, to make an atonement for the Levites.
13 (Nu 8:11; 8:21) You will set the Levites before Aaron and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to the Lord.
14 (Nu 3:45) Thus will you separate the Levites
from among the children of Israel, and the Levites will be Mine.
15 (Nu 8:11; 8:13) And afterwards the Levites will go in to do
the service of the tent of meeting, and you will cleanse them
and offer them as a wave offering.
16 (Nu 3:12; 3:45) For they are completely set aside for Me
by the children of Israel. Instead of all who open the womb,
instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel,
I have taken them for Myself.
17 (Ex 13:2; Lk 2:23) For all the firstborn of the children of Israel
are Mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck every firstborn
in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself.
18 I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn
of the children of Israel.
19 (Nu 1:53; 16:46) I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron
and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to serve
the service of the children of Israel in the tent of meeting
and to make an atonement for the children of Israel, so there
will be no plague among the children of Israel when the children
of Israel approach the sanctuary.
20 Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of
Israel did to the Levites; according to all that the Lord commanded
Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them.
21 (Nu 8:7; 8:11-13) The Levites cleansed themselves from sin,
and they washed their clothes, and Aaron offered them as a wave
offering before the Lord, and Aaron made an atonement
for them to cleanse them.
22 And after that the Levites went in to do their service
in the tent of meeting before Aaron and before his sons.
As the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.
23 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
24 (Nu 4:3; 1Ch 23:3) This is what belongs to the Levites:
From twenty-five years old and older they will go in to do their
duty concerning the service of the tent of meeting.
25 And from the age of fifty years they will cease doing their duty
concerning its service and will serve no more.
26 (Nu 1:53) But they will minister with their brothers
in the tent of meeting, to attend to their needs, but will not do the work. Thus you will do to the Levites concerning their duties.
[5] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[6] Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
[7] And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
[8] Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine
flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
[9] And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the
congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
[10] And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
[11] And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of
the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
[12] And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks:
and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.
[13] And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
[14] Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
[15] And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the
tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them
for an offering.
[16] For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
[17] For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
[18] And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
[19] And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from
among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the
children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel,
when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
[20] And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of
Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
[21] And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
[22] And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the
tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the
LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
[23] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[24] This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years
old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle
of the congregation:
[25] And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the
service thereof, and shall serve no more:
[26] But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou
do unto the Levites touching their charge.
NUMBERS 9
The Passover at Sinai
1 (Nu 1:1; Ex 40:2) And the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai,
in the first month of the second year after they came out
of the land of Egypt, saying:
2 (Lev 23:5; Dt 16:1-2) Let the children of Israel also keep the Passover
at its appointed time.
3 (Ex 12:6-11) On the fourteenth day of this month, at
you will keep it at its appointed time. According to all
its rites and according to all its ceremonies, you will keep it.
4 Moses spoke to the children of Israel, that they should keep the Passover.
5 (Jos 5:10) They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at evening in the Wilderness of Sinai. According to all that
the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did.
6 (Ex 18:15; Nu 27:2) There were men who were unclean by
the dead body of a man, so they could not keep the Passover on that day,
and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.
7 And those men said to him, "We are defiled by the dead body of a man.
Why are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the Lord
at its appointed time among the children of Israel?"
8 (Nu 27:5; Ps 85:8) And Moses said to them, "Stand still, and I will hear what the Lord will command concerning you."
9 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
10 Speak to the children of Israel, saying: If any man of you or
of your posterity is unclean because of a dead body, or is far off
on a journey, he will still keep the Passover to the Lord.
11 (2Ch 30:2-15) The fourteenth day of the second month at evening
they will keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
12 (Ex 12:10; 12:46; 12:43) They will leave none of it until the morning,
nor break any of its bones. According to all the ordinances of the Passover they will keep it.
13 (Ge 17:14; Ex 12:15) But the man who is ceremonially clean,
and is not on a journey, and fails to keep the Passover,
even the same person will be cut off from his people.
Because he did not bring the offering of the Lord at its appointed time,
that man will bear his sin.
14 (Ex 12:48-49; Lev 24:22) If a stranger will sojourn among you
and will keep the Passover to the Lord, according to the ordinance
of the Passover, and according to the manner of it, so he will do.
You will have one ordinance both for the resident alien
and for the natural born citizen of the land.
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt,
saying,
[2] Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed
season.
[3] In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
[4] And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
[5] And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at
even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
[6] And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before
Moses and before Aaron on that day:
[7] And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
[8] And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD
will command concerning you.
[9] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[10] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
[11] The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and
eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
[12] They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.
[13] But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to
keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his
people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
[14] And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover
unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to
the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for
the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
The Cloud and the Fire
15 (Ex 13:21; 40:34) And on the day that the tabernacle was erected,
the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony,
and at evening there was over the tabernacle the appearance of fire
until the morning.
16 (Ne 9:12) So it was always. The cloud covered it by day,
and the appearance of fire by night.
17 (Ex 40:36rCo38; Jn 10:9) When the cloud was lifted up from
over the tabernacle, then after it the children of Israel journeyed,
and in the place where the cloud settled,
there the children of Israel camped.
18 (1Co 10:1) At the commandment of the Lord the children of Israel
journeyed, and at the commandment of the Lord they camped. As long as
the cloud dwelt over the tabernacle they camped.
19 When the cloud remained many days over the tabernacle,
then the children of Israel kept the charge of the Lord and did not journey. 20 When the cloud remained a few days over the tabernacle,
according to the commandment of the Lord they dwelt in their tents,
and according to the commandment of the Lord they journeyed.
21 When the cloud dwelt from evening until morning
and the cloud was lifted up in the morning,
then they journeyed. Whether it was by day or by night
that the cloud was lifted up, they journeyed.
22 (Ex 40:36-37) Whether it was two days, or a month,
or a long time that the cloud dwelt over the tabernacle,
the children of Israel dwelt in their tents and did not journey.
But when it was lifted up they journeyed.
23 (Nu 9:19) At the command of the Lord they camped,
and at the command of the Lord they journeyed.
They kept the charge of the Lord at the command
of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
[15] And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon
the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
[16] So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of
fire by night.
[17] And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that
the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode,
there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
[18] At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon
the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
[19] And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.
[20] And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
[21] And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and
that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it
was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
[22] Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud
tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode
in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed. [23] At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
NUMBERS 10
The Silver Trumpets
1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 (Isa 1:13; Ps 81:3) Make for yourself two silver trumpets.
Of a hammered work you will make them, and you will use them
for summoning of the assembly and directing the breaking up of the camps.
3 (Jer 4:5) When they blow both of them, all the assembly will assemble themselves to you at the door of the tent of meeting.
4 (Ex 18:21; Nu 7:2) If they blow only one, then the leaders,
who are heads of the thousands of Israel, will gather themselves to you.
5 (Nu 2:3-9; 10:14) When you blow an alarm, then the camps that lie
on the east will set out.
6 (Nu 2:10-16; 10:18) When you blow an alarm the second time,
then the camps that lie on the south will set out.
They will blow an alarm for their setting out.
7 (Joel 2:1) But when the assembly is to be gathered together,
you will blow, but you will not sound an alarm.
8 (Nu 31:6; 1Ch 15:24) The sons of Aaron, the priests,
will blow the trumpets, and they will be to you as an ordinance
forever throughout your generations.
9 (Ge 8:1; Jdg 2:18) And if you go to war in your land against
the enemy that oppresses you, then you will blow an alarm with
the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God,
and you will be saved from your enemies.
10 (Ps 81:3; Lev 23:24) Also in the day of your gladness,
and at your appointed days, and in the beginnings of your months,
you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over
the sacrifices of your peace offerings that they may be a memorial
for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
[3] And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
[4] And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads
of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
[5] When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall
go forward.
[6] When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the
south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
[7] But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but
ye shall not sound an alarm.
[8] And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and
they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
[9] And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
[10] Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be
to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
The Departure From Sinai
11 And it was on the twentieth day of the second month,
in the second year, that the cloud was lifted up from
over the tabernacle of the testimony.
12 (Ge 21:21; Nu 12:16) The children of Israel set out
from the Wilderness of Sinai. And the cloud dwelt
in the Wilderness of Paran.
13 And they set out for the first time at the command of the
Lord by the hand of Moses.
14 (Nu 2:3-9; 1:7) And the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah
set out first by their armies, and over his armies was Nahshon the
son of Amminadab.
15 Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel
the son of Zuar.
16 Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab
the son of Helon.
17 (Nu 1:51; 7:6-8) The tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gershon
and the sons of Merari set out, carrying the tabernacle.
18 (Nu 2:10-16; 1:5) The standard of the camp of Reuben set out
by their armies, and over his armies was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
19 (Nu 1:6) Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Simeon
was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
20 (Nu 1:14; 2:14) Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Gad
was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
21 (Nu 10:17; 4:4-16) The Kohathites set out, carrying the sanctuary,
and they set up the tabernacle before they came.
22 (Nu 2:18-24; 1:10) The standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim
set out by their armies, and over his armies was Elishama the son of Ammihud. 23 Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel
the son of Pedahzur.
24 (Nu 1:11) Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Benjamin
was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
25 (Jos 6:9; Nu 1:12) Then the standard of the camp of the children of Dan
set out, which was the rear guard of all the camps by their armies,
and over his armies was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
26 (Nu 1:13) Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Asher
was Pagiel the son of Okran.
27 (Nu 1:15) Over the armies of the tribe of the children of Naphtali
was Ahira the son of Enan.
28 (Nu 2:34) This was the order of march
of the children of Israel, company by company, when they set out.
29 (Ge 12:7; Ex 2:18; 3:1) Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us, and we will do good to you
because the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel."
30 Hobab said to him, "I will not go. But I will depart to my own land,
and to my kindred."
31 (Job 29:15) So Moses said, "Please do not leave us, because you know
where to camp in the wilderness, and you may be our eyes.
32 (Jdg 1:16; 4:11) Moreover, if you go with us, then it will be that
whatever good the Lord will do for us, we will likewise do for you."
33 (Dt 1:33; Ex 3:1) They set out three days from the mountain of the Lord, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them
the three days' journey, to find a resting place for them.
34And the cloud of the Lord was over them by day
when they set out from of the camp.
35 (Ps 68:1-2) And it was, when the ark set out, that Moses said,
"Rise up, O Lord,
and let Your enemies be scattered,
and let them that hate You flee before You."
36 (Dt 1:10) And when it rested, he said,
"Return, O Lord,
to the multitude of thousands of Israel."
[11] And it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
[12] And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
[13] And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the
LORD by the hand of Moses.
[14] In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of
Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
[15] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was
Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
[16] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
[17] And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons
of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
[18] And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
[19] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel
the son of Zurishaddai.
[20] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the
son of Deuel.
[21] And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other
did set up the tabernacle against they came.
[22] And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of
Ammihud.
[23] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
[24] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan
the son of Gideoni.
[25] And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which
was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host
was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
[26] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the
son of Ocran.
[27] And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira
the son of Enan.
[28] Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
[29] And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses'
father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I
will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
[30] And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own
land, and to my kindred.
[31] And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how
we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of
eyes.
[32] And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what
goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
[33] And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and
the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.
[34] And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of
the camp.
[35] And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise
up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee
flee before thee.
[36] And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.

2 Kings 4:31-35
31 (Jn 11:11) Gehazi passed through ahead of them and laid the staff
on the face of the boy, but there was no sound or response.
So he returned to meet him and told him, "The boy is not awake."
32 When Elisha came into the house, he saw that the boy was dead,
lying on his bed.
33 (Mt 6:6; 2Ki 4:4) So he went in, and shut the door on the two of them,
and prayed to the Lord.
34 (1Ki 17:21; Ac 20:10) He went up and lay on the child, put his face
on his face, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands.
Then he bent over the child, and the child's flesh warmed.
35 (2Ki 8:5) Then he got down, walked once back and forth in the house,
and went up, and bent over him; the boy sneezed seven times,
and the boy opened his eyes.
[31] And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of
the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went
again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked.
[32] And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead,
and laid upon his bed.
[33] He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed
unto the LORD.
[34] And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his
mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
[35] Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the
child opened his eyes.
I was stuck. I'd written half of a devotional article when my thoughts dried up. "God, what should I do?" I prayed. Remembering research that found that our creative output is boosted by an average of 60 percent when we walk, I headed out to the trail behind my house and continued my conversation with God. Thirty minutes later I was refreshed. I returned to my keyboard and finished the entry.
In 2 Kings 4:18-35, we read that Elisha and his servant, Gehazi, responded to a Shunammite woman's plea to help her dead son. At Elisha's instruction
(v. 29), Gehazi laid his staff on the child (v. 31). Elisha prayed. Then
he laid on top of the boy. At last, "Elisha . . . walked back and forth in the room and then got on the bed and stretched out on him once more. The
boy . . . opened his eyes" (v. 35).
Scripture doesn't tell us why Elisha "walked back and forth," nor does it say what he was thinking. What we do know is that when Elisha's prayers weren't answered, he didn't give up. It's not difficult to picture him talking to God in this urgent situation.
What do you do when you're stuck at a dead end and don't know what to do? Perhaps a "prayer walk" is in order. Whether we head out to a trail for a walk or pace back and forth in our home, connecting to God when we're in need brings answers that address our circumstances.
Reflect & Pray
Where are you stuck? How might you communicate with God in this situation so that He can direct you?
Dear God, when I find myself in stuck
spots, please help me to walk with You.
Not sure about God's calling for your life?

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 6 - Through The Fire
Is 43:2
2 (Ps 66:12; Da 3:25-27) When you pass through waters,
I will be with you. And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
nor shall the flame kindle on you.
2 When thou passest through the waters,
I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:
when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned;
neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
In the Book of Daniel, 3 young men provide one of the world's best-known
Bible stories. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three of the finest young
men of Israel, were taken into capitivity to Babylon. There King Nebuchadnezzar, filled with his own importance, commanded that
everyone bow down and worship his image.
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship anyone
except the One True god, they were cast into Nebuchadnezzar's
furnace of fire.
Is 43:2 brings their experience into focus for us. There the Lord says,
"When you pass through the fire ... when you walk through the water ..."
Not if, but when. If we are committed to serving and honouring the Lord,
at some point we will be faced with "passing through the fire" for hm.
We may not face a physical furnace, but we may face the fires of
persecution, anger, hostility or suffering. And God says:
"I will be with you."
When the three young Israelites stepped into the king's furnace, all
the people looked and saw, not three, but four men in the fire, their
bonds burned away, walking freely among the flames. They did not
escape the fate decreed for them. But the Lord was with them in
the fire, as surely as he has promised to be with us in the flood
and the fire, as surely as he has promised to be with us in the
flood and fire tht life brings to us. The promise of god remains:
"I will be with you; the waters will not overflow, nor will the
flames burn you."
Application
a) What kinds of "fires" and "Floods" have I experienced?
b) How was I aware of the Lord's presence with me?
4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland
Proverbs 10:22
22 The blessing of the Lord makes rich ,and He adds no sorrow with it.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich,
And he addeth no sorrow with it.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
When you are Saddened by Loss
1 Cor 15:35-38,51-57
35 But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up?
With what body do they come?"
36 You fool! What you sow is not made alive unless it dies.
37 When you sow, you do not sow the body that shall be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.
38 Then God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed.
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet,
for the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
53 For tis corruptible will put on incorruption,
and this mortal will put on immortality.
54 When this corruptible will have put on incorruption,
and this mortal will have put on immortality,
then the saying that is written shall come to pass:
"Death is swallowed up in victory."
55 "O death, where is your sting?
O grave, where is your victory?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ!
35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up?
and with what body do they come?
36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be,
but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
38 but God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him,
and to every seed his own body.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought
to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13

10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.

Alberta
Quick facts on Muslims in Alberta
Alberta 2015 population 4121700
est Muslim Population 195240
CNMM Networks: Calgary and Edmonton
It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 . Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.
Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach. - for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim

Pray for the Sundanese</a>
Ibu Asih began a new job at a Christian-owned business, where many employees were believers. She had five dreams about Jesus over the course of a year but didn't tell anyone about it. Eventually, Ibu Asih began to open up about her faith with her coworkers.
She eventually began studying the Bible with several Jesus-followers at work. Then, while riding on her motorbike one day, she was suddenly overwhelmed
with the reality of God's love for her. She was so moved that she began sobbing. When she arrived home, she hugged her family and wept, "The love of God! I love you!"
Ibu Asih's impactful experience of the love of God through Jesus led to both her husband and her mother beginning to follow Jesus. Later, her husband began to doubt his new faith, and threatened to divorce her if she continued to read the Bible. Not long after, she and her mother were kicked out of their family home.
Eventually, the entire village turned against them, sending them away from the only place they had ever known. Years of rejection followed, and they were afraid for their lives. But God always protected and provided.
Ibu Asih's husband eventually repented and returned to the Lord. Now, Ibu Asih continues to carry the love of God with her saying, "Every day I feel like I'm led by Jesus, by the hand." In just the last few months, she has seen dozens come to Christ and her husband has a compassionate heart and a desire to see young men follow Jesus.

Day 5 - A powerful fasting metaphor: untouched soil canrCOt produce fruit.
Scripture:
Hosea 10:12
12 Sow to yourselves righteousness, reap mercy,
break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek the Lord,
until He comes and rains righteousness upon you.
12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy;
break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD,
till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
---
Hosea 10:12 calls us to "Sow to yourselves righteousness, reap mercy,
break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek the Lord,
until He comes and rains righteousness upon you." In the context of ancient Israel, Hosea urged a wayward people to turn from idolatry and plant seeds of justice and faithfulness, promising a harvest of God's steadfast love and blessing.
This verse speaks profoundly to money and finance. Just as farmers sow seeds expecting a return, our financial decisions are acts of sowing. Sowing righteousness means aligning our finances with God's principles: tithing generously (Malachi 3:10), avoiding debt bondage (Proverbs 22:7), and using wealth to serve others rather than hoarding it selfishly (1 Timothy 6:17-19). Too often, we chase quick riches through unethical means or consumerism, leading to spiritual barrenness. But, breaking up "unplowed ground" invites us to cultivate new habits - budgeting prayerfully, investing in kingdom work, and trusting God as our Provider (Matthew 6:33).
Imagine a farmer ignoring fertile soil; similarly, neglecting financial stewardship wastes God's potential blessings. Reaping unfailing love isn't about prosperity gospel guarantees, but experiencing God's faithfulness amid obedience. When we seek the Lord first, He "showers righteousness," multiplying our efforts for eternal impact.
Brothers and sisters, examine your financial soil today. Are you sowing seeds of greed or generosity? Commit to breaking fallow ground through disciplined giving and wise management. As Galatians 6:7 reminds, we reap what we sow. Let your finances reflect a heart pursuing Christ, and watch God bring a bountiful harvest.

Lord, help me sow righteousness in my finances. Break up any hard ground in
my heart, and teach me to seek You first. Amen.
