NUMBERS 7
Offerings at the Tabernacle's Dedication
1 (Lev 8:10-11) And it was on the day that Moses had fully set up
the tabernacle and anointed it and sanctified it and all its instruments,
both the altar and all its vessels, and anointed them, and sanctified them,
2 (Nu 1:4-16; 2Ch 35:8) that the leaders of Israel, heads of their
fathers' houses, who were the leaders of the tribes, and were over
them who were counted, made an offering.
3 And they brought their offering before the Lord, six covered wagons,
and twelve oxen, a wagon for two of the leaders, and for each one an ox.
And they brought them before the tabernacle.
4 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
5 Accept these things from them, that they may be used in the service
of the tent of meeting. Give them to the Levites, to each man according
to his service.
6 Moses took the wagons and the oxen and gave them to the Levites.
7 Two wagons and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon,
according to their service.
8 And four wagons and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari,
according to their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron
the priest.
9 (Nu 3:31; 2Sa 6:13) But to the sons of Kohath he gave none because
the service of the sanctuary belonging to them was that they should
carry on their shoulders.
10 (2Ch 7:9; Dt 20:5) The leaders brought their dedication offerings

by Leslie Koh
Genesis 9:12-16
12 Then God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which
I am making between Me
and you and every living creature that is with you,
for all future generations.
13 I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.
14 When I bring a cloud over the earth, the rainbow will be seen in the cloud; 15 then I will remember My covenant,
which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh,
and the waters will never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 The rainbow will appear in the cloud, and I will see it
and remember the everlasting covenant between God
and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."
[12] And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual
generations:
[13] I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
[14] And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that
the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
[15] And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
[16] And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of
all flesh that is upon the earth.
Owen was on holiday abroad when he received a disturbing message from a colleague: "The boss is looking to replace you." Deeply upset, he prayed one morning at dawn and asked God, "Where are You?" Then he went to the window to open the curtains - and spotted a huge, beautiful rainbow suspended above
the lake outside. Immediately a comforting warmth gushed over him. "It was as if God was simply telling me, 'It's okay; I'm here,' " he recounted later.
In Genesis 9, God promised not to destroy the earth through a flood again.
He promised, "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it
and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures
of every kind on the earth" (v. 16). This covenant was everlasting
and unconditional. It depended totally on GodrCOs protection and provision, not on humanity's performance. And it was just the first of many promises
God would make to His people. Jesus, too, said, "Surely I am with you
always" (Matthew 28:20).
God doesn't promise that we won't suffer. But He does promise His ever-present comfort and personal presence. We may not get "rainbow answers," but we have His assurance that no matter what happens to us in life, He's always there for us, and we can draw on His strength, comfort, and presence.
Reflect & Pray
In times of trouble and worry, what can you do to remind yourself
of God's presence? Which promises of His give you comfort?
Loving Father, thank You for Your presence,
and please help me to remember Your promise to be with me always.

Week 8 Guided by Grace Day 5 - Waiting for the Wind
Is 40:31
31 (2Co 4:16; Ps 103:5; Ex 19:4)
but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary,
and they shall walk and not faint.
31 but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;
and they shall walk, and not faint.
High above civilisation, alone on his craggy peak, the eagle waits.
He watches, senses, and then, with effortless grace, he spreads
his wings and soars. He does not flap frantically to gain altitude,
he merely turns his wings into the wind and rises.
Is 40:31 promises that we, too, can be like the eagle,
mounting up on wings, soaring effortlessly,
without weariness. But this is not often our experience.
We usually flap around like invalid pigeons, scratching
for mere existence, flying only when our place in the park is disturbed.
We need to learn to wait on the Lord. Like the wind that raises the eagle
to the heights, the wind of the Spirit will lift us up as well - beyond
the weariness of daily life, beyond the struggle for existence, beyond
the plodding pace of normal interaction.
But the eagle does not rise without plunging for the cliff into the wind.
His ability to stay aloft is based on his understand of wind currents;
when the wind is against him, he rises. He waits on the cliff
until the right moment, then allows the contrary breezes to lift him up.
Most of us are grounded by the winds that are against us. We give up
and never take the first flight. We fear the plunge from the cliff into the buoyant breath of God, and so we stand fixed, afraid to launch out.
But when we do take the risk, when we wait upon the Lord, and then
give ourselves in obedience to a free-fall from the cliffs of his will,
we discover that there is rest in soaring with him. We do not have to
struggle; we have only to fly, and in flying, to find new strength.
Application
a) Why is "waiting upon the Lord" essential
to "Mounting up with wings as the eagle"?
b) How can this verse help me be more willing to take risks in God's will?

Deut 8:18
18 But you must remember the Lord your God,
for it is He who gives you the ability to get wealth,
so that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers,
as it is today.
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth
thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant
which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:
God's Guiding Presence
Ps 119:105-112
+a Nun
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
106 I have sworn, and I will perform it,
that I will keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am greatly afflicted;
revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.
108 Accept the freewill offerings of my praise, O Lord,
and teach me Your judgments.
109 My soul is continually in my hand,
yet I do not forget Your law.
110 The wicked have laid a trap for me,
yet I do not depart from Your precepts.
111 Your testimonies are my inheritance forever,
for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes always,
even unto the end.
+a Nun
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
And a light unto my path.
106 I have sworn, and I will perform it,
That I will keep thy righteous judgments.
107 I am afflicted very much:
Quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD,
And teach me thy judgments.
109 My soul is continually in my hand:
Yet do I not forget thy law.
110 The wicked have laid a snare for me:
Yet I erred not from thy precepts.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever:
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes
Alway, even unto the end.
Remember God's promises when You pray
The Lord's prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)
Alberta
Quick facts on Muslims in Alberta
Alberta 2015 population 4121700
est Muslim Population 195240
CNMM Networks: Calgary and Edmonton
It is estimated that Calgary has 82000 Muslims and Edmonton another 50000 . Alberta may have a total as high as 195240 today.
Calgary is notable as the first Canadian city with a Muslim mayor. It's
become a prominent place of Islamic fundamentalism.
Edmonton's Muslim population is very diverse, with the largest group
coming from Tanzania, followed by Somalia, and then North African countries such as Egypt, Morocco, etc.
Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus! They overcome huge spiritual,
emotional and cultural hurdles to follow Christ. Yet their challenges still continue, especially in growing in discipleship. They often fell lost in our Western congregations, and equally lost trying to find a church body with whom they can identify. some are even being lured into Christian cult groups.
Please join us in praying for:
- The church to reach out to the growing Muslim populations in Alberta.
- for Canadian churches to start contextualised discipleship ministries to Muslim-background believers.
- for Muslm-background believers to be well grounded spiritually and socially
in their faith and the Church.
- and for Muslim-background believers to share their faith with their not-yet-believing family and friendship networks.
- for Farsi and Arabic fellowships to grow in spiritual maturity and outreach. - for current and new workers among Muslims in these growing Muslim
in these growing Muslim population centres.

Pray for Uttar Pradesh</a>
The majority of India's population is Hindu. That makes it easy to forget that if India's Muslims were counted as a single country, it would - after Indonesia - be the second largest Muslim country in the world.
200 million Muslims reside in India, spread over every Indian state, just like their delicious cuisine has spread to most of the world. Uttar Pradesh is
the Indian state with the highest population of Muslims. Though only 19% of the population, they number over 38 million people.
The increase in Hindu nationalism in recent decades has sometimes made life difficult for both Muslims and Christians.
Rahim was a young Muslim man who moved from his village in Uttar Pradesh to one of its cities. There, he rented a room in a building before he learned that an infidel also lived there rCo another Muslim who had become a Christian.
Rahim hated him for his defection, but was also intrigued. Curious to know
how Christians prayed, he put his ear to the wall and strained to hear what they were doing. He was shocked to hear that, despite his hostility,
they were praying for God to bless him.
Rahim decided to open the door to friendship with his neighbours. They, in turn, opened the door of eternal life to him. Rahim grew to love Jesus and gave his life to him. He eventually became a pastor and his own testimony
has borne fruit in the lives of countless Muslims.

prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for everyone,
2 (Ezr 6:10) for kings and for all who are in authority,
that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty,
3(1Ti 1:1; Lk 1:47) for this is good

8 ) Day 4 - Humility precedes healing and restoration.
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14
14 (2Ch 6:27; 6:37-39) if My people, who are called by My name,
will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn
from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
[14] If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

If you have been in Christian circles for any length of time, you have likely heard of Dave Ramsey. When asked how he is doing, his typical response is "better than I deserve." This simple saying speaks directly to most of the questions he receives. It confronts the two extremes which we typically vacillate betweenrCopride/entitlement or victimization/shamerCoand encourages us
to think of ourselves humbly and rightly.
If you are fasting, you are acknowledging that something is not right; so, when we come to verses like this, we cling to its promise of restoration
and healing, but have we acknowledged the prerequisite of humility?
If we also consider the context, we are encouraged to be humble when life throws us a curveball, but that seems easier said than done. For myself I
often err towards pride, and think things like "no big deal I can do this"
or "how foolish of them, they should do this." Deut. 8:18, 1 Cor. 3:18
and Gal. 6:3 don't seem to enter my mind in these moments.
Maybe you are on the other spectrum, and you feel worthless or powerless. Again, humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking about yourself less. We can rest knowing that God thinks highly of us
and fights for us (Ps 8:4; Rom. 8:31) so we do not have to. With that,
let us humbly trust God for who he is and what he is doing; knowing that
our circumstances are always better than we deserve.
---
Personal Reflection Questions:
- Where on the "humility spectrum" do I tend to gravitate and how do I
invite God into that?
- Gratitude can re-orientate our humility. What is something that I
can be grateful about, even amidst the adversity I am fasting about?
Prayer Points:
- Pray for the members of the Mission Servant Council as several of them
are experiencing health issues, or are needing to step away for a period.
- Please intercede for the Islamic community as they are currently practicing
Ramadan. Pray that many will encounter the hope of Jesus as they fast.
