    GENESIS 46 ,

[4] I will go down with thee into Egypt; and I will also surely bring thee
up again: and Joseph shall put his hand upon thine eyes.
[5] And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba: and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, and their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

    Jacob Settles in Goshen

28 (Ge 45:10) Now he sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions
to Goshen. And they came into the land of Goshen.
29 (Lk 15:20) Joseph readied his chariot and went up to Goshen
to meet Israel his father. As soon as he appeared to him,
he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a long time.
30 (Lk 2:29-30) Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die,
since I have seen your face, because you are still alive."
31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household,
"I will go up and tell Pharaoh and say to him, 'My brothers
and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
32 (Ge 47:3) The men are shepherds; their work has been to feed livestock,
and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.' 33 (Ge 46:32) When Pharaoh calls you and asks, 'What is your occupation?'
34 (Ge 43:32; Ex 8:26) you shall say, 'Your servants have been
keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,' so that you may dwell in the land of Goshen,
because every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians"

[28] And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto
Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.
[29] And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his
father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck,
and wept on his neck a good while.
[30] And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy
face, because thou art yet alive.
[31] And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will
go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's
    house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;
    [32] And the men are shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle;
and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have. [33] And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What is your occupation?
[34] That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in
the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

    GENESIS 47
1 (Ge 46:31; 45:10) Then Joseph went and told Pharaoh,
"My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds
and all that they possess have come from the land of Canaan
and are now in the land of Goshen."
2 (Ac 7:13) He took five men from among his brothers
    and presented them before Pharaoh.
3 (Ge 46:33-34) Pharaoh asked his brothers, "What is your occupation?"
And they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds,
both we and also our fathers."
4 (Ge 15:13; 46:34) They said to Pharaoh, 'We have come to sojourn in the land, for your servants have no pasture for their flocks,
    because the famine is severe
in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please allow your servants to dwell
    in the land of Goshen.'
5 Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying,
"Your father and your brothers have come to you.
6 (Ge 47:11; Ex 18:21) The land of Egypt is before you. Have your father
and your brothers dwell in the best of the land. Have them dwell
in the land of Goshen, and if you know any capable men among them,
then put them in charge over my livestock."
7(Ge 47:10)Then Joseph brought in Jacob his father
and presented him to Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
8 Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How old are you?"
9 (Ge 35:28; 1Ch 29:15) And Jacob said to Pharaoh,
"The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years.
My days of the years of my life have been few and evil,
and they have not attained to the days of the years of the lives of my fathers
in the days of their pilgrimage."
10 (Ge 47:7) And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from his presence.
11 (Ex 1:11; 12:37) So Joseph settled his father and his brothers
and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt,
in the best part of the land, in the land of Rameses,
    as Pharaoh had commanded.
12 (Ge 45:11) Joseph provided food for his father, his brothers,
and his father's entire household, according to the number of their children.

[1] Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren,
and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of
the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
[2] And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.
[3] And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they
said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our
    fathers.
[4] They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in
    the land of Goshen.
[5] And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are
    come unto thee:
[6] The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy
father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if
thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
[7] And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
[8] And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?
[9] And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are
an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my
life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of
my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
[10] And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
[11] And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a
possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
[12] And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.

    Joseph and the Famine

13(Ac 7:11) There was no food in all the land, for the famine
was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and
all the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.
14 (Ge 41:56) Joseph gathered up all the money that was found
in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grain that they bought, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
15 When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt
and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph
and said, "Give us food, for why should we die in your presence?
    For our money is gone."
16 Joseph said, "Give your livestock, and I will give you food
for your livestock, if your money is gone."
17 They brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food
    in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the herds, and the donkeys;
and he fed them with food in exchange for all their livestock for that year.
18 When that year was ended, they came to him the second year
and said to him, "We will not hide it from our lord,
that our money is all spent.
Our lord also has our herds of livestock. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our lands.
19 (Ne 5:2-3) Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land?
Buy us and our land for food, and we and our land will be slaves to Pharaoh. Also give us seed, so that we may live and not die,
so that the land will not be desolate."
20 So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh,
for every Egyptian man sold his field
because the famine was severe on them.
    So the land became Pharaoh's.
21 As for the people, he removed them to cities
from one end of the borders of Egypt to the other end.
    22 (Ezr 7:24) Only the land of the priests he did not buy;
for the priests had an allotment from Pharaoh,
and they lived off their allotment that Pharaoh gave them.
Therefore they did not sell their lands.
23 Then Joseph said to the people, "I have bought you and your land today
for Pharaoh; here is seed for you so you may sow the land.
24 (Ge 41:34) At the harvest, you must give a fifth part to Pharaoh
and four parts will be your own, as seed for the field and
for your food and for those of your households
and for food for your little ones."
25 (Ge 33:15) They said, "You have saved our lives.
Let us find grace in the sight of my lord,
and we will be Pharaoh's slaves."
26 (Ge 47:22) So Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day,
that Pharaoh should have the fifth part,
except from the land of the priests, which did not become Pharaoh's.

[13] And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore,
so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of
    the famine.
[14] And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of
Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
[15] And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan,
all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should
we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
[16] And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle,
    if money fail.
[17] And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread
in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
[18] When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of
my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
[19] Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us
and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh:
and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not
    desolate.
[20] And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the
    land became Pharaoh's.
[21] And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.
[22] Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a
portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh
gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
[23] Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day
and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the
    land.
[24] And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field,
and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
[25] And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the
sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
[26] And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only,
    which became not Pharaoh's.

    Jacob's Request of Joseph

27 (Ge 46:3; Ex 1:7) Israel lived in the land of Egypt,
in the land of Goshen, and they had possessions there
and grew and became very numerous.
28 And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years,
so the years of Jacob's life were one hundred and forty-seven years.
29 (Ge 24:2; 24:49) When the time drew near when Israel would die,
he called his son Joseph and said to him, "If now I have found grace
in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh
and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt,
30 (Ge 49:29-32; 23:19) but let me lie with my fathers.
Carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place."
And he said, "I will do as you have said."
31(1Ki 1:47; Ge 24:3)And he said, "Swear to me," and he swore to him.
Then Israel bowed himself at the head of his bed.

[27] And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and
they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
[28] And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age
of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.
[29] And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son
Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I
pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury
me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
[30] But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt,
and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said. [31] And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.

    2 Timothy 4:9-13

    Remember the Lord Your God

9 (2Ti 1:4; 4:21) Diligently try to come to me soon.
10 (Ac 16:6; 17:1) Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world,
and has departed to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. 11 (Ac 12:12; Col 4:14) Only Luke is with me. Get Mark, and bring him with you, for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 (Ac 20:4; Eph 6:21) I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 (Ac 16:8) When you come, bring with you the cloak that I left
at Troas with Carpus, and the books, but especially the parchments.

[9] Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
[10] For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
[11] Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
[12] And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
[13] The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring
with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

I recently learned that the name "CARE" package came from the acronym for "Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe," a group that sent boxes of food to help Europeans displaced during World War II. While the care packages I send my kids at college are mostly filled with homemade treats and candy, they usually include a few practical items - a favorite shirt
forgotten at home or extra school supplies.

While the name "care package" may be modern, the practice of sending helpful items is far older. ItrCOs even tucked away at the end of 2 Timothy. Writing while imprisoned in Rome, Paul concluded his letter to his trusted disciple with some personal requests. He asked that Timothy come and bring Mark to help him (4:11). Then he requested some personal items: his cloak and his "scrolls, especially the parchments" (v. 13). Perhaps the cloak was needed because winter was coming, and maybe the scrolls contained copies of the Old T estament. Whatever the reason, Paul longed for companionship and practical items to refresh and encourage him.

Tangible reminders of care, whether the recipient lives near or far, can have a significant impact on someone in need of a little encouragement. The gift
of a meal for a neighbor, a thoughtful card written to a loved one
or acquaintance, or a package full of goodies sent to a faraway friend can extend God's love in practical ways.

    Reflect & Pray

When did you receive a reminder of God's love?
How did that kindness encourage you?

Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to see who I might show Your love to.

Week 4 - The Blessings of Grace Day 4 - freedom from Fear

    Psalms 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom will I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom will I be afraid?

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Marcy was afraid of the dark. As a child she slept with a nightlight on,
and even she matured, she still had a fear of dark places.
When she was at home alone, she kept all the lights on,
and a small lamp at her bedside glowed through the night.
The psalmist David reflects that common fear of darkness when he says
"The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?"
David does not say, "The Lord brings light," but "The Lord is my light".
God is the source of understanding and security in our lives.
He is the One who can expose and deal with our fears.
When we are afraid - afraid of losing a job or a loved one,
afraid of making mistakes, afraid of being hurt, afraid of what others may
say about us - we can turn to the Lord who can handle our fears.
He is a "stronghold", a fortress of protection around us,
and in him we are safe.
Often we turn to other places for our security - to the bank account,
to a spouse or loved one, to the approval of the world.
We mistakenly think that these sources can provide a foundation of defence against uncertainty of life. But when we find that people disappoint us, money loses its value, and the praise of others is fleeting,
we must turn again to the true source of security, God alone.

    Application

    a) What sources of security have I trusted in besides God?
What was the result of that trust?

    b) In what ways have I depended upon God for my security?

    c) What spiritual truths can I see now that I could not see
    when I lived in darkness?

    4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

    Deut 29:9

9 (Dt 4:6; Jos 1:7)Therefore, keep the words of this covenant
and do them, so that you may prosper in all you do.

9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them,
that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

    5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

When you are ill or injured

    Psalm 103:1-5

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 (Ps 63:1; 84:2) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,
3 (Ps 79:10; 80:5) who forgives all your iniquities,
    who heals all your diseases,
4 (Isa 30:29; Ps 62:8) who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) who satisfies your mouth with good things,
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits:
    3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;
    Who healeth all thy diseases;
    4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;
    Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
    5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;
So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Remember God's promises when You pray

    The Lord's prayer

    Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your name.
    10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
    Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
    as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

    6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

    2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493

British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly. Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
    other nationalities.

Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this region is about 200000.
Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis, more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that

    - the church will catch a vision to pray,
and a burden to train outreach to Muslims
    - the church will press in to participate in effective
discipleship of these new Muslim background believers.

    Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

    Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.

For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.

You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
    which means Blessed Eid!"

Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:

    - Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
    "that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes. 21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

    Footnotes
    Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.
    - Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people.
    - Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus. Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house."

    Ideas for prayer

    - Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
    - Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving Christ among Muslim people -
Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
    - When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity (Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
