    Day 5, 5 January 2025

    1) Job 11, 12, 13

    Job 11

    Zophar Speaks: Job Is Guilty
    11:1 Then Zophar the Naamathite answered:
    2 "Should not the multitude of words be answered?
    And should a man full of talk be justified?
    3 Should your empty talk make men hold their peace?
    And when you mock, will no one shame you?
    4 For you have said, `My teaching is pure,
    And I am clean in your eyes.'
    5 But oh, that God would speak
    and open His lips against you,
    6 and that He would show you the secrets of wisdom!
    For they would double your prudence.
    And know that God overlooks some of your iniquity.
    7 "Can you search out the deep things of God?
    Can you find out the totality of the Almighty?
    8 It is as high as heaven; what can you do?
    Deeper than Sheol; what can you know?
    9 Its measure is longer than the earth
    and broader than the sea.
    10 "If He passes through, and shuts up, and gathers together for judgment,
    then who can hinder Him?
    11 For He knows worthless men;
    He sees wickedness also; will He not then consider it?
    12 For an empty-headed man will become wise,
    when a wild donkey's colt is born a man.
    13 "If you prepare your heart
    and stretch out your hands toward Him;
    14 if iniquity is in your hand, put it far away,
    and do not let wickedness dwell in your tents;
    15 for then you will lift up your face without blemish;
    yes, you will be steadfast and will not fear,
    16 because you will forget misery,
    and remember it as waters that pass away,
    17 and your life will be brighter than noonday,
    even your darkness will be as the morning.
    18 You will trust because there is hope;
    yes, you will search about you,
    and you will look around and rest in safety.
    19 Also you will lie down, and none will make you afraid;
    yes, many will court your favor.
    20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail,
    and they will not escape,
    and their hope will be as the giving up of breath."

    [1] Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
    [2] Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?
    [3] Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall
    no man make thee ashamed?
    [4] For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
    [5] But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;
    [6] And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double
    to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
    [7] Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty
    unto perfection?
    [8] It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what
    canst thou know?
    [9] The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea. [10] If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder
    him?
    [11] For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?
    [12] For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt. [13] If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
    [14] If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
    [15] For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
    [16] Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that
    pass away:
    [17] And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine
    forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
    [18] And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig
    about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
    [19] Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many
    shall make suit unto thee.
    [20] But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

    Job 12

    12:1 And Job answered:
    2 "No doubt but you are the people,
    and wisdom will die with you!
    3 But I have understanding as well as you;
    I am not inferior to you.
    Yes, who does not know such things as these?
    4 "I am a laughingstock to my neighbor,
    who calls upon God, and He answers him;
    the righteous, upright man is a laughingstock.
    5 He whose foot is unsteady
    is despised in the thoughts of him who is at ease.
    6 The tents of robbers are at peace,
    and those who provoke God are secure,
    into whose hand they bring their own god.
    7 "But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you;
    and the birds of the air, and let them tell you;
    8 or speak to the earth, let it teach you;
    and let the fish of the sea declare to you.
    9 Who among all these does not know
    that the hand of the Lord has done this,
    10 in whose hand is the soul of every living thing
    and the breath of all mankind?
    11 Does not the ear test words
    and the mouth taste its food?
    12 Wisdom is with the elderly,
    and understanding comes with long life.
    13 "With Him are wisdom and strength;
    He has counsel and understanding.
    14 Surely, He tears down, and it cannot be built again;
    He imprisons a man, and there can be no release.
    15 Surely, He withholds the waters, and they dry up;
    also He sends them out, and they overthrow the earth.
    16 With Him are strength and wisdom.
    The deceived and the deceiver are His.
    17 He leads counselors away stripped and makes fools of judges.
    18 He has loosened the bonds imposed by kings
    and bound their waist with a belt.
    19 He leads away priests stripped
    and overthrows the mighty.
    20 He removes speech from the trusted ones
    and takes away the understanding of the aged.
    21 He pours contempt upon princes
    and loosens the belt of the mighty.
    22 He uncovers deep things out of darkness
    and brings the shadow of death to light.
    23 He increases the nations and destroys them;
    He enlarges the nations and guides them.
    24 He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth,
    and causes them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
    25 They grope in the dark without light,
    and He makes them to stagger like a drunk man.

    [1] And Job answered and said,
    [2] No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
    [3] But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea,
    who knoweth not such things as these?
    [4] I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he
    answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
    [5] He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the
    thought of him that is at ease.
    [6] The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are
    secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
    [7] But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
    [8] Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the
    sea shall declare unto thee.
    [9] Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought
    this?
    [10] In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
    [11] Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
    [12] With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
    [13] With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
    [14] Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up
    a man, and there can be no opening.
    [15] Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth
    them out, and they overturn the earth.
    [16] With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his. [17] He leadeth counsellers away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
    [18] He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
    [19] He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
    [20] He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
    [21] He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
    [22] He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light
    the shadow of death.
    [23] He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the
    nations, and straiteneth them again.
    [24] He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
    [25] They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger
    like a drunken man.

    Job 13

    13:1 "Notice, my eye has seen all this;
    my ear has heard and understood it.
    2 What you know, I also know the same;
    I am not inferior to you.
    3 Surely I would speak to the Almighty,
    and I desire to reason with God.
    4 But you are plasterers of falsehood;
    you are all physicians of no value.
    5 Oh, that you would altogether hold your peace,
    and it would be your wisdom!
    6 Hear now my reasoning,
    and listen to the pleadings of my lips.
    7 Will you speak wickedly for God?
    And talk deceitfully for Him?
    8 Will you take His side?
    Will you plead for God?
    9 Is it good that He would search you out?
    Or as one man mocks another, do you so mock Him?
    10 He will surely rebuke you,
    if you secretly show partiality.
    11 Will not His excellence make you afraid,
    and the dread of Him fall upon you?
    12 Your reminders are parables made of ashes;
    your answers are answers made of clay.
    13 "Hold your peace; leave me alone, that I may speak,
    and let come on me what may!
    14 Why do I take my flesh in my teeth
    and put my life in my hand?
    15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him,[a]
    but I will defend my own ways before Him.
    16 He also will be my salvation,
    for a hypocrite could not come before Him.
    17 Listen carefully to my speech,
    and to my declaration with your ears.
    18 See now, I have prepared my case;
    I know that I will be justified.
    19 Who is he who will plead with me?
    For now, if I hold my tongue, I will give up my breath.
    20 "Only grant me two things,
    then I will not hide myself from You:
    21 Withdraw Your hand far from me,
    and let not the dread of You make me afraid.
    22 Then call, and I will answer;
    or let me speak, and You answer me.
    23 How many are my iniquities and sins?
    Make known to me my transgression and my sin.
    24 Why do You hide Your face
    and regard me as Your enemy?
    25 Will You frighten a leaf driven to and fro?
    And will You pursue dry stubble?
    26 For You write bitter things against me
    and make me inherit the iniquities of my youth.
    27 You put my feet in the stocks
    and watch closely all my paths;
    You draw a line around the soles of my feet.
    28 "Man, as a rotten thing, decays,
    as a garment that is moth eaten.

    [1] Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.
    [2] What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.
    [3] Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
    [4] But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.
    [5] O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your
    wisdom.
    [6] Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.
    [7] Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?
    [8] Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?
    [9] Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another,
    do ye so mock him?
    [10] He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.
    [11] Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you? [12] Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
    [13] Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me
    what will.
    [14] Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand? [15] Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine
    own ways before him.
    [16] He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before
    him.
    [17] Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.
    [18] Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified. [19] Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I
    shall give up the ghost.
    [20] Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee. [21] Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid. [22] Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me. [23] How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
    [24] Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?
    [25] Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?
    [26] For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.
    [27] Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all
    my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.
    [28] And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.

    1 Samuel 12:19-24

    19 (Ex 9:28; 1Jn 5:16) All the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we will not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for ourselves a king."
    20 (Dt 11:16) Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness, only do not turn aside from following the Lord,
    and serve the Lord with all your heart.
    21 (Hab 2:18; Jer 10:15) But do not turn aside, for then you would be going after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.
    22 (Jos 7:9; 1Ki 6:13) As befits His great name, the Lord will not abandon
    His people. For it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.
    23 (1Ki 8:36; Pr 4:11) Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin
    against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you. But I will teach you the good
    and the right way.
    24 (Dt 10:21; Isa 5:12) Fear the Lord; serve Him in truth with all your heart, and consider what great things He has done for you.

    [19] And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the
    LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this
    evil, to ask us a king.
    [20] And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD
    with all your heart;
    [21] And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.
    [22] For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.
    [23] Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:
    [24] Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

    A woman was unusually nervous as she sat in the dentist's chair. Family burdens troubled her greatly, and it was noticeable. Her dentist sensed
    her anxiety and asked her about it. Her story led him to ask, "Can I pray
    for you?" When the dental hygienist came into the room, she also prayed for the woman. Two prayers and one completed dentist's visit later, the woman
    left the office knowing that she'd truly been cared for.

    Praying for others is one of the best ways for us to show that we care because it calls on the greatest resource we know - our heavenly Father - to be actively involved in the lives of others. In 1 Samuel 12, the prophet Samuel was faced with the concerns of a very nervous group of people (v. 19). The Israelites had erroneously asked for a king, and they were afraid of how it was going to go for themselves. The prophet told them to "not be afraid"
    (v. 20) and assured them of God's goodness as seen in these words:
    "Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing
    to pray for you" (v. 23).

    We also have the privilege and calling to pray for others. Silently sometimes and out loud at other times, we honor God when we petition Him for assistance on behalf of others in need.

    Reflect & Pray

    How can you provide caring prayer right now?
    What will it mean for people to know you're praying for them?

    Thank you, dear God, for telling us
    that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective"
    (James 5:16). Please help me to be that kind of person.

    Week 1 Knowing God's Word Day 2 - Growing Up

    2 Tim 3:16-17

    16 (Ro 15:4) All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable
    for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction
    in righteousness,
    17 (1Ti 6:11; 2Ti 2:21) that the man of God may be complete,
    thoroughly equipped for every good work.

    16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
    for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
    in righteousness:
    17 that the man of God may be perfect,
    throughly furnished unto all good works.

    "I can't wait till I get big!" Marc, age 5, declared. "Then I do
    what I want!" Most of us, as children, shared Marc's statement.
    We looked forward to that "magic age" - 16, 18, 21 - when we
    would be adults: mature, able to make our own decisions.
    We find, of course, that adulthood has its own share of
    difficulties and conflicts. But even in our spiritual lives
    we often long for a "magic moment" of maturity. As one woman
    confessed, "Ever since I became a Christian, I've hoped I'd wake up
    one morning to find myself mature."
    But growth in the spiritual life comes gradually, like growth in
    the physical world. In 2 Tim 2:16-17, Paul gives the young pastor
    Timothy an important key to spiritual growing up - the Word of God.
    The Word is "profitable" or "useful," Paul says, for "teaching" - that is,
    for developing a right concept of God. Scripture offers "rebuke" when
    we go wrong, "correction" to set us on the right path, and "training
    in righteousness" so that we can grow in the image of Christ.
    The purpose of Scripture's work in our lives, Paul emphasises,
    is that we may be "perfect" - mature, equipped for the good things
    God has for us to do. Such maturity does not come easily
    or instantaneously, but it does come - sometimes imperceptibly -
    as we submit our lives to the transforming power of God's Word.

    Application

    a) In what areas of my life do I need to grow? How can I benefit
    from the Bible's

    i) teaching?

    ii) rebuke?

    iii) correction?

    iv) training in righteousness?

    4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

    Matthew 6:19-21

    Treasures in Heaven

    Lk 12:33-34

    19 (Heb 13:5; Lk 12:21) "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
    20 (Lk 12:33; Mt 19:21) But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
    where neither moth nor rust destroy
    and where thieves do not break in nor steal,
    21 (Lk 12:34) for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

    19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
    20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
    21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

    5) From a Book called God's Promises for you:

    God's Eternal Faithfulness

    2 Tim 2:8-13

    8 (Mt 1:1; Ro 2:16) Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead,
    descended from David, according to my gospel,
    9 (Php 1:7; 2Ti 1:8) in which I suffer trouble like a criminal,
    even with chains. But the word of God is not bound.
    10 (Col 1:24; 2Co 1:6; 4:17) Therefore I endure all things
    for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain
    the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
    11 (Ro 6:8; 1Th 5:10) This is a faithful saying:
    If we die with Him, we shall also live with Him.
    12 (Mt 10:33; Ro 8:17 ) If we endure, we shall also reign with Him.
    If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
    13 (Nu 23:19; Ro 3:3 )If we are faithless,
    He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

    8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
    9 wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
    10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
    11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him,
    we shall also live with him:
    12 if we suffer, we shall also reign with him:
    if we deny him, he also will deny us:
    13 if we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

    Remember God's promises when You pray

    The Lord's prayer

    Matthew 6:9-13

    9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
    Our Father who is in heaven,
    hallowed be Your name.
    10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
    Your will be done
    on earth, as it is in heaven.
    11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
    12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
    as we forgive our debtors.
    13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
    For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

    9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
    Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
    10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
    11 Give us this day our daily bread.
    12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
    13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
    For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

    6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

    2015 Population - 4631302 Muslims about 136493

    British Columbia - British Columbia's Muslim Population is growing constantly. Every week there are immigrants ad refugees coming to the Greater Vancouver and surrounding areas. There are also significant Muslim student populations in our colleges and universities. Some have even suggested that there are between 4000 and 5000 Saudi Arabian students alone, without counting all
    other nationalities.

    Greater Vancouver has an estimated 180000 Muslims, and there are significant and growing communities in the Fraser Valley such as in Langley, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, etc. Including these communities the total population for this region is about 200000.
    Of these, there are an estimated 100000 Iranians, 35000 Arabs, 15000 Ismailis, more than 20000 Afghanis, 10000 South Asian Muslims, 3000 Turks, and small numbers from other countries such as Sudan, Somalia, Albania, etc.
    We are seeing some Muslims coming to Christ and we rejoice in that.
    A few people also have some ongoing ministry to Muslims in the area,
    for which we also rejoice. Let us agree in that

    - the church will catch a vision to pray,

    30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

    Under the Keep Praying page

    When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.

    For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.

    You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
    which means Blessed Eid!"

    Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:

    - Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
    Acts 2:12-17 : 17 "In the last days it shall be," says God,
    "that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
    your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
    your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
    18 Even on My menservants and maidservants
    I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.
    19 And I will show wonders in heaven above and signs on the earth below: blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious day of the Lord comes. 21 And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."[a]

    Footnotes
    Acts 2:21 Joel 2:28-32.
    - Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people.
    - Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus. Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
    a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house."

    Ideas for prayer

    - Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
    - Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving Christ among Muslim people -
    Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
    - When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

    My paternal side is of Muslim heritage and will offer this section to further call for Muslim converts to Christian and any other converts to Christianity (Hindus, Jews, aboriginals Canadian, ...) .
