Thanks so much for posting the complete poem here, NancyGene.

While some people only post the opening lines of public domain poems, in a blatant attempt to divert readers away from this group to their blog, those of us who are actually here to read and discuss poetry greatly appreciate your making these rare, and often forgotten, poems available.

Extra thanks for posting a scan of the poem as it first appeared in print.

When we do something, we believe in doing it right, which includes posting the entire poem if it is in the public domain.

The person to whom you refer, who truncates poems in order to lure people to his blaaarrrggg, is a tease. We have been told that his father held a belt over said person's bare bottom for hours, until said person begged for the whipping.

Pictures or scans of poems avoid "auto-correct" disease, which seems to have no cure in the Deep South.

I believe you you misspelled "blaaarrrggghhhhh". The extra sound most accurately reflects a more accurate sound of retching.

Sorry, the "auto-correct" epidemic is spreading from the Deep South, and it was the one which left off the 5 H's. There are laws against Onomatopoeia in some cities.
