Mother Goose is out of copyright, so your modified version of "Rain, rain, go away" could not be considered "literary theft."

Nor can it be considered a parody, as it imitates, rather than comments on, the original.

The best one can say about it is that it is technically well executed, but lacks originality and imagination.

Again, here in the Southlands you'd have gotten your wish, this last Christmas was warm, actually it could have been considered hot.

I wrote a poem, an early attempt at a sonnet, about a similar Christmas in 1976 or 1977, probably lost, titled "Snow No Show."

Dan Barfield was a bit harsh on it because he wasn't a fan of rhymes in poetry, which may have contributed to the poem's lost status now.

I'm thinking about recreating the poem using my currently more advanced knowledge of writing the sonnet, possibly in these last few weeks of winter.

    Stay tuned.

It's easy to pick out Dumbo and the retard in the photo.
Dan Barfly was a fan of kids and not in a good way.
"Advanced knowledge" - that's a joke and words that have never been applicable to a Donkey.

Too bad that your "advanced knowledge of writing [A] sonnet" doesn't extend to the English language.

    Come again some other year.
I'd rather that the skies were clear.
Snow, snow, get out of here.

    gjd 2026

Again, here in the Southlands you'd have gotten your wish, this last Christmas was warm, actually it could have been considered hot.

I wrote a poem, an early attempt at a sonnet, about a similar Christmas in 1976 or 1977, probably lost, titled "Snow No Show."

Dan Barfield was a bit harsh on it because he wasn't a fan of rhymes in poetry, which may have contributed to the poem's lost status now.

I'm thinking about recreating the poem using my currently more advanced knowledge of writing the sonnet, possibly in these last few weeks of winter.

    It's easy to pick out

Agreed the photograph is quite iconic.

But only in its true, iconic form:

The picture doesn't show the dog branch of the Dockery family. Was there shame about this unbarked relationship?
