• Door Testing: BaudQuest: Dial of Fate (MMO)

    From BBS ( /u/omniphil https://www.reddit.com/user/omniphil ) to All on Fri Jan 9 18:11:45 2026

So you come home from work on Friday and you think to yourself, I really wish I could play a crappy BBS game this weekend, and well, I'm here to help you out.
I really wanted a persistent world with live real-time multiplayer, mostly to see if it would work on a BBS in real-time. And well it does actually... So I present to you BaudQuest: Dial of Fate. I have no idea how many simultaneous players it can support at once as that's hard to test. But the backend database is pretty well optimized for speed it should be able to support 10-20 people at once. (Though my BBS is limited to 8 connections just in case)
But it has all the typical MMO stuff, Wandering animals and monsters, Quests, Feats, Magic spells, Melee and Ranged combat, Achievements, Inventory, Storage, Daily quests, Chests to find in the world and loot, Huge map to wander in, Item rarity, Bosses, World and direct player chat, Leveling system, Different biomes on the map, Shops, Leaderboard, NPCs, etc...
Even if you hate it, please let me know... haha...
You can find it at.... (SyncTERM Preferred)

So you come home from work on Friday and you think to yourself, I really wish I could play a crappy BBS game this weekend, and well, I'm here to help you out.
I really wanted a persistent world with live real-time multiplayer, meaningful long term character progression, mostly to see if it would work on a BBS in real-time. And well it does actually... So I present to you BaudQuest: Dial of Fate. I have no idea how many simultaneous players it can support at once as that's hard to test. You don't lose progress in this game like a Roguelike, You lose some gold and return to the main down on death, but your character and all its gear remain, you can keep leveling up your character without fear of losing progress.

So you come home from work on Friday and you think to yourself, I really wish I could play a crappy BBS game this weekend, and well, I'm here to help you out.
I really wanted a graphical persistent world with live real-time multiplayer, meaningful long term character progression, mostly to see if it would work on a BBS in real-time. And well it does actually... So I present to you BaudQuest: Dial of Fate. I have no idea how many simultaneous players it can support at once as that's hard to test. One of the main Quests is finding and assembling the Dial of Fate to trade it for Fated gear items.
You don't lose progress in this game like a Roguelike, You lose some gold and return to the main town on death, but your character and all its gear remain, you can keep leveling up your character without fear of losing progress.
