And now it works again. But only ipv4.

    Hi Alexey,

    On 2025-04-08 18:10:26, I wrote to you:

    Works for me:

    23:21 [3702405] trying f2.n2.z2.binkp.net [94.254.14.141]...
    23:21 [3702405] connected

Sometimes you get through, most of the time you don't...

It's about 1 in 10 calls that work for me:

    # grep 'connection to 2:203/0@fidonet failed' binkd.log | wc -l
    151

    # grep 'done (to 2:203/0@fidonet, OK' binkd.log | wc -l
    15

Or maybe it's half that, because IPv6 always fails, and it tries that first.

    Bye, Wilfred.

Why not just rename the list to represent "NNTP Feeds"?

Is anybody actually reading this? Does anyone care?

I did when I came back to the fold as a user. An NNTP

Sure. Most Synchronet FidoNet nodes run an NNTP service, so the list could be a lot longer in that case too.

You mean hostname? Seems to be the one that was advertised as running JAMNNTPD
    (but isn't).

    rbb.fidonet.fi is running JamNNTPd/OS2

Yup, I did (probe the wrong host) and you're right, it is. Cool. I just thought it was weird that most if not all the listed "servers" weren't actually running the software being advertised. I have nothing against JAMNNTPD (or JamNNTPD) I just was curious why it seems to be such a significant part of the official Fido newsletter and then when checked, most of the listed JAMNNTPD servers weren't actually. So, just seemed to me like unnecessary noise. But if no one else agrees, so be it. Seems odd.

I completely agree. Very odd, indeed.

I believe the explanation is that the FidoNews "editor" is also
    quite.... odd.

I have no opinion on that, just focusing on the product, not the person. I assume, like many other automated systems, it's just been neglected and ignored and lost its initial purpose at some point, but caries on doing what it was told, like a good robot. :-)

    Just a side note...

The nice thing about JamNNTPd/SmapiNNTPd is its great FTN integration compared to other NNTP servers or gateways, especially:
    - Support for the "To:" field in echomail with any NNTP client
    - Support for netmail
