I thought Mark did that a few months ago?

However, speaking of SUBS, 1@127, I'm getting tons of subs requests for subs that you are already subscribed to. Looks like we have either a DUPE issue, or something may be misconfigured?

Which ones are those? After losing my "The Ruins" WWIV version to a failed backup, I'm having to start over (new BBS name as The Ruins is on Mystic now) with a new BBS smelling version of WWIV. So I have been subscribing to subs that are in the subslist located here https://github.com/wwivbbs/wwivnet.

It would be helpful to know which subs to delete, so any info would be much appreciated.

Well .. Jimmy Mac .. I hope that wasn't me. I'm @126 and Alpha is @127. I was having trouble receiving mail packets and noticed I had setup my net as @127 on my new install. However I'm pretty sure I fixed that prior to subscribing to subs as obviously password was being rejected on net callouts. Anyway .. how would I know what subs I had previously subscribed to if I'm on a brand new install of WWIV? I lost my back up of "The Ruins" sometime ago to a bad backup script and or drive, so a bit unclear what subs Mark had on hold for me.

Just in case, I can re-request subcription and or what is the best method?

Well.. Looks like you fixed it!

But that brings up a good point. I'm unsure how WWIV handles that situation where a node has to be rebuilt or a node number is reassigned.

In any case, welcome back! Sorry to hear of the failed backup. Nothing could be saved?

Either way it's nice to be able to communicate with the kool kids again. I missed my WWIVnet native :)

I honestly don't know. I had switched from Windows to Linux and likely did not have it setup as part of my auto backup as The Underground BBS was. I formatted the drive when I switdhed to Linux, assuming I had it all on my portable WD drive .. I was wrong :(

All is coming along well on this version. Just really struggling to learn permissions with Linux. I can not get /opt/wwiv to save file listings it can read just fine from an external drive under /media/mydrive/partition/anyfolder .. In addition I can symlink to compile, but WWIV then doesn't load the BBS at all, as if the binaries do not exist and or /opt/wwiv does not have execute privilages. I'm curious if anyone runs WWIV from their home directory to avoid this.... especially if they run more than one BBS on a computer that shares drives and folders with one another.

Once I figure out the above I'll be through most "issues" and on to deciding a nable to get into the source and start ame, theme and begin
customizing more, which I'm excited to do. Really love the new version of WWIV!

Thanks for the welcome back Mr. Mac!

I haven't yet tried running WWIV on Linux yet. Sure looks like a question for Rushfan.
