We need an updated subs list because people are subscribing to subs i stopped hosting a year or two ago.
However, speaking of SUBS, 1@127, I'm getting tons of subs requests for subs that you are already subscribed to. Looks like we have either a
DUPE issue, or something may be misconfigured?
Well .. Jimmy Mac .. I hope that wasn't me. I'm @126 and Alpha is @127.
I was having trouble receiving mail packets and noticed I had setup my
net as @127 on my new install. However I'm pretty sure I fixed that
prior to subscribing to subs as obviously password was being rejected on
net callouts. Anyway .. how would I know what subs I had previously subscribed to if I'm on a brand new install of WWIV? I lost my back up
of "The Ruins" sometime ago to a bad backup script and or drive, so a
bit unclear what subs Mark had on hold for me.
But that brings up a good point. I'm unsure how WWIV handles that
situation where a node has to be rebuilt or a node number is reassigned.
In any case, welcome back! Sorry to hear of the failed backup. Nothing could be saved?
All is coming along well on this version. Just really struggling to
learn permissions with Linux. I can not get /opt/wwiv to save file
listings it can read just fine from an external drive under /media/mydrive/partition/anyfolder .. In addition I can symlink to
compile, but WWIV then doesn't load the BBS at all, as if the binaries
do not exist and or /opt/wwiv does not have execute privilages. I'm
curious if anyone runs WWIV from their home directory to avoid this.... especially if they run more than one BBS on a computer that shares
drives and folders with one another.
