But that brings up a good point. I'm unsure how WWIV handles that
situation where a node has to be rebuilt or a node number is reassigned.
Either way it's nice to be able to communicate with the kool kids again. I missed my WWIVnet native :)
In any case, welcome back! Sorry to hear of the failed backup. Nothing could be saved?
I honestly don't know. I had switched from Windows to Linux and likely did not have it setup as part of my auto backup as The Underground BBS was. I formatted the drive when I switdhed to Linux, assuming I had it all on my portable WD drive .. I was wrong :(
All is coming along well on this version. Just really struggling to learn permissions with Linux. I can not get /opt/wwiv to save file listings it can read just fine from an external drive under /media/mydrive/partition/anyfolder .. In addition I can symlink to compile, but WWIV then doesn't load the BBS at all, as if the binaries do not exist and or /opt/wwiv does not have execute privilages. I'm curious if anyone runs WWIV from their home directory to avoid this.... especially if they run more than one BBS on a computer that shares drives and folders with one another.
Once I figure out the above I'll be through most "issues" and on to deciding a nable to get into the source and start ame, theme and begin
customizing more, which I'm excited to do. Really love the new version of WWIV!
Thanks for the welcome back Mr. Mac!
