Hi there, maybe Mark or Rush, or expert WWIV'ers ..
If I create a network sub on WWIVnet, how does it end up on the subs.lst
at the hub? And how do others know it exists?
Thanks for any help w/ details.
There's a question asked by the BBS when you make a networked sub that says:
Make this sub public (in subs.lst)?
If you answered yes here, the next time Mark sends out a "ping" for SUBS.LST, his system sends out a main_type 20 (0x0014) -- main_type_sub_list_info /minor t to all ype 0 to all
nodes in WWIVnet, your BBS network software will see this and will send back info about your publicly available subs using main_type 20 / minor type 1.
This gets collated by Mark's system and gets sent out as a SUBS.LST using main_type 9 to all nodes in WWIVNet.
So all you really need to do is answer that question with a yes. Well, that's the technical part of it.
The other part is "advertising" your new networked SUB in one of the existing WWIVnet subs so that Sysops can SUBscribe to your sub.
Hope this helps,
