What's with the drones everywhere. I saw that the brits have set up a special drone unit outside of US military bases in the UK. They can
detect a drone up to six miles away, determine who and where the
operator is and hack into the controls to take over the drone. I am sure
we can do this here.....

One thing as I get older, I have far, far, far less tolerance for fools anymore.
The continuing "dumbing down" of people is what it is. They think they
can "play games" and when caught will act like they are just so
innocent.

Another, out of New Jersey, was shooting lasers at an angle toward the ground while remaining stationary, however nothing oIf they are car sized and can hover for up to two hours, therefore they are military grade...

Not to mention smoke pot and listen to Black Sabbath and Prog Rock. I guess with the same car money I could build a rightious drone and have drone parties with my friends :O

Me too! My tolerance is well in the negative range. Maybe from getting older, but probably more related to getting wiser.

same here, but i had a Chevy II, and was lucky enough to only spend 1kI had a friend with a beat up Chevy but his father had a shop so... his engine was a 350 LT1 all alumninum which you could buy from the catalog. It was balanced and blueprinted. Heads and intake were ported and polished, flow tested on a bench. So yeah you can spend 10k easily even back in 1973.
on the 420hp engine i dropped in it. the rest is incredibly accurate.
good times.
America is slackin.
Yet, these skills seem to be quickly eroding away nowadays. I had a
neighbor a few doors down the other day strike up a casual conversation.
We talked about some holiday things, then I mentioned that in a few
minutes I was going to have to run as I had an appointment for my
pneumonia vaccine since I turned 50 this year.
OMG. You'd think that I had opened the doors of hell. He starts ranting about vaccines and some nonsense to do with Obama and Biden. I noped right out of that conversation and said "Gotta go!".
So we all grow older nowadays, but fewer and fewer of us are growing
wiser.

All I know is it is very important to maintain the freedom to make our
own personal decisions. Just because one person thinks something is
good doesn't mean someone else does. And I'm not saying one is right or
one is wrong - just differences of perspective based on their own experiences.
I believe everyone should have freedom of choice.
I do not believe you should be allowed to dictate or preach to me how my decision violates your beliefs or other crackpot nonsense.

opener.
Though I didn't smoke pot, I was more into drinking (too much actually).I grow pot and get high CBD strains which I make into edibles for sleep and body aches. I no longer like to blow my brains out anymore. I too have an affinity for beer vs hard stuff as it's just more mellow and "just right". Since I have started intermittent fasting several years ago, I just avoid ETOH altogether because it's like spikes insulin too fast. Approaching age 70 in a month. I've lost 35 lbs. I hike several times a week. I'm in great shape, all lab values are WNL. I guess it pays to be a nurse because I've watched what everybody else is doing and understand comorbidities of aging.
That is why still to this day I only drink beer and no longer have any liquor. I also limit my beer intake to no more than 3 in any given day.

I never have more than (3) beers a day, but I do like my beer so I
typically will have 3 beers a day. So when I go to the beer store and
pick up (4) 30 packs at a time, it appears bad, but I never have more
Society had made great leaps forward in the past few decades.. Sadly,
there are those out there trying their best to reverse those
advancements.

The issue today is so many have zero respect for others.
I don't really drink much beer, more like 3 a week, but it's super nice to have a Michelob Ultra at a basketball game. The low alcohol content is a nice plus since I'll have to drive later on afterwards.

How can we do that when we spent 90% of our effort and time on culture war issues? As a former teacher who got the hell out, and still have friends
who teach, they all say the same thing -- they spend so much time on nonsense and culture war shit nowadays, they have little time to try and move the class as a whole forward.
Ding! Ding!
"I'm on a diet, so you can't have cake" is the mentality of many.
There also needs to be more guidance on career paths. Too many studentsI wished we had a career/life stuidies unit in English class where students have to do research and a budget.
go into stuff that has very little employment options and just isn't realistic. Not to mention the fact that college is still pushed when in
many examples it isn't needed. Many can make a fantastic career without college. Need more people in trades that show the interest.
I think history has shown us, and will show us again, that society willI saw a PBS documetary on the Gilded Age last week which seems to be the basis for the TV series of the same name. It's based on the rise of the capitalists in the industrial age and how the working class gets exploited. What blew me away was how this situation has never really changed. Big capital buys politicians and extorts the working class. I'm also amazed at how resilant the Constitution is and how forward thinking the "founding fathers" were. If anything, we can see flaws in the Constitution and perhaps remedy this to prevent any type of Authoritarianism in the future. The nobel experiment continues....
not move backwards. We may take steps back, but those are often
followed by huge steps forward.
And those that wish to turn back the hands of progress usually are dealt with by society eventually.
