• New server hardware.

I am starting to look into upgrading (2) of my (3) Supermicro servers. One of them is just a data server, so it doesn't need more CPU, RAM or anything. It has more than enough as it is.

Out of the other (2), I only keep one of them running. The other is a backup if I need to do upgrades, cleaning, or whatever. Basically spare.

I'm working with a used server reseller on getting (2) fully loaded Supermicro X11 motherboards complete with dual Xeon Gold 6148 CPUs and 512GB ram each.

It will be a motherboard swap, and I'll likely have to tie wrap some 60mm fans on the passive CPU coolers, but otherwise that should do it.

That should really speed things up on my virtual environment. The benchmark is pretty close to my Ryzen 9 7900 workstation, which is blazingly fast.

Still deciding, but might be my next project.
