I wanted to go to the beach since I live next to one on Cape Cod. The problem being on July 4th, there are so many tourists, there is usually no parking. My wife and I took a chance and drove up to the gate and the park ranger had us wait on the side, called the parking lot on a walkie talkie and directed us to the spot that was waiting. This was a first.... We have beach passes on our car. So, I am writing this with a nice sunburn....

This 4th I dove deeper into my recently found hobby of making my own rubs, bbq sauce and smoking. I smoked a 15lb pork shoulder for 16 hours covered in a homemade rub and then offered some homemade bbq sauce on the side (though truth be told it didn't need sauce!)

Was amazed at how good it came out, and everyone had nothing but compliments. This was my first attempt at a "no foil" method of smoking pulled pork and it turned out amazing. Good bark, good flavor all around!
