Did anyone know Hawk Hubbard? I hear he passed away. He was helpful to me setting up my Mystic board. He he had set up a Rip bbs and was involved in that. He was also quite the fiddle player... Anyhow, someone of note in BBSland.

Aw bummer, he was a great guy, I didn't know him well but enjoyed all of my mails and discussions with him.

I wish his family and loved ones well.

I thought I was the only one - that Hawk helped when I came back to BBSing... come to find out he was awesome to all of us - at all times.

I logged into Black Flag tonight to find the last email he ever sent me; same Hawk - just a stand up guy...

Wore many hats for many people in this w0rld - he was a real one.

I hear the m00p is hosting ALL of the Black Flag family BBSes - so they will live on.

Enjoy some fiddle tonight, and remember the awesome human that IS Hawk Hubbard:

Thank's Dave. Yes it was Searchlight BBS that was heavily modded for Rip. He gave me the reg key for Searchlight to play with. Is his board still up I wonder?

Sad that we are losing our best and brightest. We need to get younger people involed in this activity.

Been friends on FB for at least a decade, but never really met. Just a common hobby. He's been battling cancer for a while, was bummed by the post on his page the other day. Another SysOp gone "No Carrier"

He was the same age as my best friend Joel who also passed on my birthday, Feb 2nd. Joel was a cantankerous character and could have passed as Hawk's brother. Anyway, too many friends passing, less people at the reunions.

Yep. Problem is, most youngins I talk to, who I show the boards to and talk about the old days, are like "ewwww... Uncle Ken, you mean.. there are no pictures?? It's ALL just writing? Pffft"

(sigh) I have a nephew who won't even watch certain anime I recommend because it "looks like ass", lol. God forbid it may have a good story, it has to be graphically slick to keep his interest heh.

Wow, what a weird thing the quote mechanism has done to that... anyway...

This conversation really made me chuckle. I hope you replied in kind with "your face looks like ass", before descending into "no, you..."

Sadly, that's coming more and more common. Before you know it, it will be our turns.
