It has only been around a month so far, but so far I have not had any issues with my nodes/SIO drivers getting hung up since switching to pfSense. It didn't happen that often before as I still have a rule in place to only allow one telnet per IP at a time.

I am using pfBlockerNG, but only doing some specific ports on the country blocks (not complete country blocks). Of all the locations, China blows all the other countries away in hacking attempts. Nothing even close, however not suprising.

I'm also using pfSense with pfBlockerNG. That has REALLY REALLY cut down on the botnet attempts on the BBS. I also use Mystic as a front end on port 23 to capture even more bots that pfBlockerNG doesn't catch.

As you said, China is the #1 culprit. Amazing to look at the stats where all those bots are coming from all over the world.

But yeah, pfSense with pfBlockerNG is a God send! That is amazing how well it works!

100% agree! I'm doing the exact same thing over here. Using pfSense as a VM with pfBlockerNG. I also allow tcp/23 for the BBS and use Mystic as a front end to block anything it might miss. I also have pfSense's tcp/23 rule set to only allow (1) connection per IP. That cuts down on the hammering.

China is always the #1 on the hacking list by a huge margin. No other country is even close.

I'm a huge fan of pfSense these days. No more physical Cisco ASA firewall needed and saves a bit more power.
