so far, i've managed to figure out how to read/write wwiv packets using c or python and have gotten as far as reading and writing specific packet types to local for processing by network2.
my next hurdle is reading subs/message bases of type-2. i've gotten as far as reading the sub files: message.sub and message.dat, extracting the titles, sender info, and Stored as values. but i can't get past the gatseclen thing... but i am studying it so i can mess around with it more. i know that we have an SDK for accessing things, but i don't really grok c++ yet, so i am a bit lost when it comes to doing it the WWIV 5 way.
i tried reading apam's code for ibol_wwiv but it seems i can't even re-compile my copy of it, so i'm reading the autosend sources for some ideas. i should probably go read the old WWIV 4 source, if that's gonna be any help.
i need a nudge in the right direction for grappling with reading/writing type-2 messages... maybe sample code for a stand-alone util that just reads from one sub, or posts to a sub.
thanks in advance!
