• Car Maintenance & Tracking Pays Off!

We drive a lot, we love our road trips and don't let the dust settle under us. A little less than 2 years ago we bought new tires for our 2020 Santa Fe. Nokia One's. Tires have been pretty darn good, and we were at about 36k miles on them (originally rated for about 65k miles). Happened to notice this past weekend this crack line that was running all the way around the tires (all 4!) near where sidewall and tread come together. Just thought "Man, that don't look right".

Took it back to shop that did the tires. They agreed and wanted to know about maintenance (rotations, etc) - so I pulled up CARFAX Car Care app and showed them the detailed history of every rotation and balance which I am religious about. I've learned absolutely do not go anywhere that doesn't use CARFAX - just makes life so much easier to have that full history at my fingertips.

Long story short, they got approval for a replacement and prorated. I thought "OK, so going to get about 40% off the price of the new tires, not bad". I about fell over when they told me that the new tires were prorated down to $50 each. $200 for 4 brand new tires (KUMHO CRUGEN HP71) with 65k miles of tread on them.

TL;DR - Keep up on maintenance, know your car/tires, and either keep that paperwork or insist the shop reports back to CARFAX. It saved me over $500, plus I got a set of brand new tires for $200. You just can't beat that.
