• Chromecast CEC

I've got a couple of Chromecasts the versions with AndroidTV (one is 2K,
the other 4K) neither have been used much lately, the 4K one got an
upgrade to Android14 when i turned it on yesterday.

Since the upgrade, the mute/vol+/vol- buttons on the remote don't alter
the sound on the LG WebOS TV (no surround amp or soundbar involved, just
TV speakers) I'm sure it used to.

CEC is enabled on the TV as well as the chromecast, they turn on/off in reaction to each other turning on/off, which may or may not involve CEC.

Anyone else have a HDMI chromecast and lost CEC functionality?

Swapped the 4K one for the 2K one, was expecting it to also get an
upgrade but apparently the older one is stuck on Android12 now

The 2K doesn't do anything for the mete/vol+/vol- either, at least I
know it's not related to the update, could be an update the TV has had,
I can try it on the bedroom telly.

the volume controls work with the fairly old Samsung (F5 series)

Anyone have CEC issues with a WebOS telly?

Mystery solved, two things I didn't know ...

    1) the chromecast can update the firmware in its remote control over bluetooth

    2) the remote can be configured to use CEC or various flavours of IR to
    match the telly.
