• BBC news HD gone from satellite?

    From Andy Burns@usenet@andyburns.uk to uk.tech.digital-tv on Fri Aug 29 18:36:24 2025

My system is not "blessed" by freesat, just a PCIe DVB-S2 tuner with
    TVheadend on Linux.

I've had News HD as a channel for a long time, the BBC website* claims
it should still be there on 11023H, which is what I'm "tuned" to, but apparently News HD is no longer on that transponder, I can play other
channels such as Parliament HD (which happens to be simulcasting news HD
at the moment) and to different BBC Two NI channels.

Has it closed, or just moved to a different transponder?

Here it's still available on 11023H, picked up with a standard DVB-S2
receiver (no Freesat). The Scottish and Welsh variations of BBC One HD
and BBC ALBA HD are on the same transponder, and a few BBC radio
    stations as well.

It works for me: Raspberry Pi running TVHeadend with a PCTV 491e DVB-S2
tuner. It's on 11023H with Service ID of 8921.

11023H is configured (Configuration | Mux page) as:

    DVB-S2
    Freq 11024000
    Sym 23000000
    Pol H
    Mod PSK/8
    FEC 3/4

Other channels on the same mux are:

    BBC Alba HD SID 8927
    BBC R5L
    BBC One Scot HD
    BBC ONe Wal HD
    BBC News HD
    BBC R1
    BBC R2
    BBC R3
    BBC R4
    BBC Asian
    BBC One WM HD
    BBC Alba HD SID 8926

I'm puzzled at your reference to BBC Parliament and two BBC Two NI
channels, because those are not on that mux - either in TVHeadend or on https://www.lyngsat.com/Astra-2E-2F-2G.html

Odd that the BBC Reception page doesn't list it, because it *is* there!

    Thanks for checking.

Looks like it wasn't an issue with TVheadend itself, but more likely
between DreamPlayer frontend on my Android TV dongle and TVheadend, a
    refresh has fixed things ...

Here's the result of playing the 11023H mux in VLC: Configuration | Multiplexes, select 11023H, ">" icon [Play this stream]

If you get different results when you do this, you may need to re-scan
that mux to update the list of services, though LyngSat doesn't flag it
as having changed recently, so if it was working in the past, it should
    still be.

Apologies, the route to playing the mux is Configuration | DVB Inputs |
Mux (I missed out DVB Inputs)

Thanks, I think the DreamPlayer frontend is a bit wobbly, it often loses
a setting or two, unfortunately the developer hasn't been very
responsive when I've reported issues (it's payware, albeit pretty cheap)
