• OT: How to disrupt video (in your face) at protests?

    From YTC1@ytc1@ytc1.co.uk to uk.rec.motorcycles on Fri Oct 10 14:28:50 2025
    From Newsgroup: uk.rec.motorcycles

Another one of those random queries that hopefully UKRM can help with.

We have been taking part in an anti-protest protest at a local asylum
hotel. It has had the desired effect of drawing the Ire and angst our
way and leave the asylum seekers alone.

However we are plagued by the "civilian journalists" filming right up to
us and asking questions, which we have declined to answer and ndicated
we do not want to speak on camera.

I have tried playing music to upset their sound, but don't think this
works. And last week I fell Into the trap and raised my hand to a
camera, which he made sure connected and claimed I snatched It and
assaulted him. Police did nothing other than having a quiet word with me.

So, any Ideas of how to disturb the filming with out getting myself Into
    any shit?

    Film them back?

I think there's not a lot you can do to stop it, without playing
into their hands. They want a confrontation, it makes for more views
of their videos. If I was in your shoes, I would do my best not to
provide it by refusing to engage with them. Don't speak to them,
don't react to any questions or provocations.

I suppose if you deliberately go out to protest, in order to be noticed
and reacted to by a certain group, it's unavoidable that you might
be noticed and reacted to by another, whether allied or not, group.

The sooner that cameras are removed from the demonstration, the
better rCo ideally, before anything happens that they could
document. ItrCOs important to give people who are filming an
opportunity to put their devices away when asked. Participants or

why filming is not tolerated. While some livestreamers will
stubbornly try to continue putting othersrCO freedom at risk in hopes

Print up a A5 card which says "My fee for appearing in your video is -u1
per second per view. By recording and uploading you accept full
personal liability to pay the fee. If you do not wish to pay then do not record and do not upload. If you do wish to pay then please sign an

Then hold the card in front of your face or in front of their camera.

It won't stop them filming but it gives you an excuse to shove something
in front of their camera if they get close.

AAMOI, at what point does it capitalise it? As you're typing the
letter I, at the end of the word or when/before you hit Send? Does it
do the same if you type the rest of the word first and then go back to
add the I onto the beginning? Might help identify whatever setting is
at work, like maybe you've got an instant spellcheck that's

    According to Mark Twain:
History doesn't not repeat itself but rhymes sometimes.
Here in NL it's full on deployment of the new look SA. A rag taggle bunch of
skinheads and football hooligans Nazi saluting everything that moves and
smashing up everything that doesn't move.
One right wing MP recently thanked them for their support. Moronic does not

    As do I.

We wondered why It was so quiet ethis week, not much shouting (last week
    was to some extremes).

I've now seen some of the videos put up, they have tried to change the rhetoric to be that they are being "put upon"

    https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19p2uWWK9R/

    https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1X81Vw85kV/

Of note Is that all police action so far has been protestors being delt
with (cautions I beleive) after crossing the road and grabbing at flags,
or making actions or saying stuff that mounts to harrasment.)

I now realise why my "hand of god/sauron" has been used to file an
    assault complaint.

AAMOI, at what point does it capitalise it? As you're typing the
letter I, at the end of the word or when/before you hit Send? Does it
do the same if you type the rest of the word first and then go back
to add the I onto the beginning? Might help identify whatever setting
is at work, like maybe you've got an instant spellcheck that's
recognising the I immediately you type it...

    It's as soon as I type I.
I get a little box with I|x if, I press x (or esc) then It doesn't do
    the capitalisation.

this does smack of an over-enthusiastic spellchecker failing to wait
    for a
space before changing the case to upper
It uppers as soon as I press space, even after a sttirg of letters
Ishshshshs <went upper as space pressed here).
xxxx ifI just press right arrow, It doesnt, but then It NLs......

To me that's more likely to be a custom abbreviation expansion turning i
    to I.
But why only In the NG composition? Email Is fine. I've been through the
TBird settings and all spell checker/dictionary stuff seems ok.

I'd raise a bug, but haven't worked out how to word It yet (this Is
    helping)
