• re-waterproofing textiles

I've just spent most of the day wedging my textiles into the washing
machine with various magic nikwax products after stripping them of the
    armor.
I have very little faith the armor will go back in, or that they'll dry
    out by Monday morning.
I just want to grumble about it but also:
Would anyone like to tell me that it's likely or not likely to have
worked to cheer me up or set my expectations?

do you have a tumble drier?

apparently the Nikwax TX Direct waterproofer works better if it has been warmed up. A hairdryer might achieve the same thing.

I don't have a tumbble drier so try to remember to wash my Rukka suit on a sunny day so it warms up au naturel.

We had some very heavy rain in France earlier this month and I can report
that apart from a bit of leakage around my neck, my 8 year old Rukka
goretex gear kept me dry. It has an annual bath in liquid soap and TX
Direct. It is their chepaer drop liner variety not the posh laminated
    stuff.

Sadly no tumble dryer, I have a bit of steel box across the shower
from which the two halves of the suit are now hanging, dripping.
I guess I could pop a space heater in there with them...

This is how I wash MC clothes. Absolutely no tumble drier; but my stuff is not Goretex. Goretex I have been told works better after a warm cycle? RTFM.

    Out with protectors.
Thermal liners 30C standard and spin.
Waterproof liners 30C sensitive and NO spin.
Outer shell 30-40C std and spin, upper and lower separate depending on size.

Hang dry overnight, outer shell may still be damp, but does not matter.

I made my own oversize hangers for upper and lower parts, that keeps the insides 'open'.
An ordinary room fan will speed up drying by moving stale air.

In the winter I usually just wash the thermal liner, and in the summer just the waterproof liner.

Over the years I have experimented with spray on stuff, but I find it makes no useful difference on MC clothes.

the TX Direct stuff used like favric conditioner [1] seems to work on my Hein Gericke Cruise jacket and Rukka Gear. All drop liner Goretex stuff.
Water beads on the outer fabric so it never gets very wet and dries quickly.

    Sadly no tumble dryer, ...

Well ... do you have a local launderette?

Perhaps, but as these things go, having finally dried them out by monday morning the rain forecast had changed to just barely even cloudy...
    The stuff works perfectly!
