• This weekend I did a thing

    From Ben Blaney@benblaney@gmail.invalid to uk.rec.motorcycles on Mon Aug 25 23:58:40 2025
    From Newsgroup: uk.rec.motorcycles

I went to Flint, Michigan and built a car from scratch. A Factory Five
Roadster Mk 5, in fact (which is an AC Cobra replica). https://www.factoryfive.com/build-school/

It was not too terribly hard, and was a reasonable amount of fun. And at the end, we had a working automobile! It did donuts round the car park, to prove it.

Even more amazing, I went with the wife and two teenage boys. Consequently,
now we are tentatively discussing building one of our own next summer. Anyone who want to spend some of next summer in fabulous Upstate NY is more than welcome to lend a hand.

I definitely think you should, although I'm a bit dubious about a firm
that requires its workforce to pay them! I had a Cobra replica rolling
chassis finished (Jaguar suspension, Rover aluminium V8 engine) before impending divorce meant I had to sell up. Were I to win the lottery,
    however, ...

Interesting concept, you pay them for you to build their car, which they
then presumably sell. Less than free labour.

It's taken me 7 days so far to rebuild this tractor engine, and I'm not finished yet.

Not for me in the next three years, maybe more.

No, they take it apart and the next class build it again.

Do you think there's any chance of it?

Today, we are afflicted by Christian Scientists at the highest levels
of HHS, FDA, and CDC. And we have this ongoing (since 1832) love/hate relationship with our central bank, too. Both of these issues are
symptomatic of our leadership's catering to the lowest common
denominator in the populace, which rCo so far rCo seems to be the winning strategy.

Do you have a wonky autocorrect or auto-uppercase add-on?

All spell checking off, no strange add-ons.

It's like a switch was flipped (when I recently selected corect as
type), but hasn't flipped back when I deselected it (If I press esc when
It tries it doesn't do it ....)

Not got a search to come up with ananswer yet, and I'd rather not
re-Install as I have many accounts that I'd then need to add apply again
