• Ow, me toes!

    From YTC#1@ytc1@ytc1.co.uk to uk.rec.motorcycles on Tue Aug 19 18:03:37 2025
    From Newsgroup: uk.rec.motorcycles

I was out for a rare ride today, had to drop some tools off at MiL's.

Decided to take the long router, which was fine, until I filtered to the
front of the queue on a roundabout.

    Lanes 1 and 2 has lorries, lane 3 a car. So I filtered between 2 and 3,
lights red and plenty of room In from of lorry.

Except just as I drew level with the front of him (he was still rolling)
he came slightly right, caught my mirror and nudged me just enough to
make me put my foot down.

As he drove over my foot.

We stopped and chatted, he was concerned and wanted to know if wanted to
go the hospital, I could move my toes so can't be arsed.

Carried on my journey, I should have headed home for the frozen peas
really, gear changes got a touch painful after 60 miles.

Oh well, off on a 6/7 day 250 mile push bike ride tomorrow (Carlisle->Berwick->Newcastle[1]

    [1] I'll wave to Eddie

Well, in theory, the blind spot is indeed directly below the mirror but on
the opposite side to the driver. So assuming it wasn't some kind of
furriner, he should have been able to glance to the right and down a bit to
observe you in full technicolour. Tricky things roundabouts though
especially when it's busy and it's your turn to go. Also if it was an artic
then being 'bent' to the left he would only see you very late as you
appeared round the corner of the trailer. Easy mistake to make.

No, she pops up on Fbook UKRM now and then.Recently she mentioned being in
the process of buying a property in Sicily. She was there before Brexit and has residency now. Apparently it's not easy for non EU people to buy
    property in Italy.
