How old was she when she had that? Listening to an episode of A Life
Scientific, which I have when half asleep, the person said it can
affect brain development in teens. The drop in nutrition causes changes

    when the person is older.

2004 when she was around 25 so not in her teens. It was an odd age for
it to happen and I cannot remember what if anything is supposed to have caused it.

One of my friends developed anorexia in her 20s. getting married and having
to move a long way from her family brought it on. I was at their wedding
and she looked desperately ill even then. After a number of years, she
moved into one of the old style mental health long term hospitals, only returning home when they were closed. That was over 30 yrs ago. I was
given the tip that she was having cancer treatment last year and rang her
up. She still found it Impossible to speak. She kept asking the husband.
I then found out from a mutual friend, this is as she has been for years.
The strong medication has destroyed her communication skills. She was
always extremely quietly spoken. I met her and her family and another girl
of our age and family back in the 1970s and have managed to at least send
    cards every year.
