Did you know on the Canary Islands there is not one canary?
And on the Virgin Islands same thing, not one canary.

Apologies, this should have said "Israeli Lobby", I was reading one thing while typing another.

The last figures I have show 80% of Conservative MPs and 50% of Labour MPs
are members of The Friend of Israel.

I think (paid) lobbying should be banned, any thoughts?

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists
or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies.

I see the title is not Jewish lobby but "Israel lobby", which avoids any antisemitic connotations. I think those who slavishly support Israel's conduct are as likely to be non-Jews as Jews and there is of course a
huge body of Jews who loathe Israel's genocidal actions.

I doubt if there is an appetite for banning paid lobbying. And
unfortunately the freebies and gifts that are routinely given to
politicians seem to be accepted by them without any thought of ethical consequences.

I don't approve of free football stadium tickets for politicians. If
Starmer can't buy his own tickets he should stop going to matches and
spend more time on his work. I don't think the tribalism of football supporters is wholesome or healthy for the nation.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/ce9j2ky7412o

    quote

With debate around free gifts for MPs a running theme of the Labour
PartyrCOs annual conference, BBC Sport has looked into how many 'freebie' tickets to sports events ministers have received this year.

We looked at the register of MPs' declarations of financial interests
between 1 January and 2 September 2024 - the last time the list was
    updated - and found:

Prime Minister and Arsenal fan Sir Keir Starmer received the most hospitality tickets of any MP for matches in the Premier League,
Championship and Champions League totalling just under -u13,000 - donated
to him by the Premier League and seven English clubs.

The Premier League also gifted Starmer an additional -u4,000 worth
of hospitality tickets for a Taylor Swift concert at Wembley Stadium in
    June.

In this eight-month period, the Premier League gave out free
tickets valued at -u40,994 to MPs from several political parties.

I think there might be a substantial support in Israel.

In Nazi Germany, the objective was to make German territories Judenrein. Cleansed of all Jews.

In Israel, many would feel the same about Palestinians (or Arabs, as
they generally call them). The inferior race, troublesome,
untrustworthy, to be pushed out and resettled in some other land that is
not Israel. In South Africa the name for such lands was "Bantustans".

But even with an independent Palestinian state there will be a fear that
"the Arabs" still want to reconquer Israeli territory and take back the
land that was stolen from them by Israel. Maybe if Israel was to pay
massive reparations for its war crimes, that would be a start.

Many Arabs are semites, but it looks as if the jews have claimed the word

A fascinating calumny agains that monolithic and frightening group of the people "the Jews"; actually it seems that it was a German antisemite who "appropriated" the term antisemite to describe his policy of anti-Jewish political campaigning. See:
