• Looking for small flanged tank connector for PVC tube

    From Chris Green@cl@isbd.net to uk.d-i-y on Tue Oct 14 11:39:54 2025
    From Newsgroup: uk.d-i-y

I'm looking for something like this, but much smaller:-

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/eco-filtration-FLANGED-CONNECTOR-FILTER-FITTING/dp/B081HJ57NY/ref=sr_1_6?crid

It's to connect a 1cm (or thereabouts) breather pipe to the top of a
tank, thus it doesn't even have to be incredibly watertight. What it
does have to be is capable of being fixed with only outside (of the
    tank) access.

I suspect all I need is the right name for such a thing.....

Maybe consider a pushfit bulkhead conector.

    eg:

    https://www.eco-filtration.co.uk/product/3-8-bulkhead-connector/

    https://www.eco-filtration.co.uk/product/12mm-bulkhead-connector/

    or 15mm tank connector

    https://www.toolstation.com/jg-speedfit-tank-connector/p55227

    https://www.toolstation.com/hep2o-keyless-tank-connector/pAE933

You can use a reducer to drop from 15 to 10mm.

No, these need access to the inside of the tank to fit them (unless
    I'm misunderstanding how they work).

No, all these have the same issue, one needs to get to the 'other
side' to attach a nut and tighten it. I don't have access to the
    other side.

All with the same issue as the other ones above, one needs to be able
to get to the inside of the tank to fix them. I don't have access to
    the inside at all.

Maybe I didn't make clear what I need. I have access to the top of a
closed tank, i.e. all I can see is a large blank sheet of metal and I
can only get at the outside of it.

Thus I'm looking for a connector of some sort for a pipe (a barb would
be ideal) that has a flange with a ring of holes that I can put self
tapping screws through into the tank to hold it in place. ... with a
larger hole in the middle of course.

It's the sort of thing you see holding a fuel gauge float for example,
except I want one with a barb.

Surely it's quite a common thing to want, a way to connect to a
    'closed' tank.

I suspect you have quite an unusual use case. Maybe, buy a tank
connector and drill some holes in the flange?

Or use lots of araldite to bodge it? Surely, if it's in the lid of the

Yes, as I said in my original post, perfect sealing isn't necessary.

I haven't seen any tank connectors with a large enough flange to do
this sort of thing. It's all I need really. It does need to be a
reasonably wide flange though to make it practical to fix with pop
rivets, or self-tapping screws or whatever.

How is he going to make the hole for the water to get through even if he avoids holes for self-tapping screws? The OP didn't say it was

I finally found what I wanted, in french they are called "|ecrou de
bride" which translates as "Flange nut" but searching for 'flange nut'
in english produces virtually no hits, whereas the french produces lots
of hits of what I wanted.

Anyway, here is one of the few englsh hits:-

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Piece-Flange-Brad-Galvanised-Round/dp/B084VNZP7V/ref=sr_1_46?crid

They're designed for fitting legs etc. to furniture but they're just
about perfect for what I wanted to do with them. I found some in the
local Leroy Merlin here which is how I discovered what they were
called. Normally I buy stuff on Amazon Prime here (gets delivered to a
nearby Amazon locker) but in this case, unusually, Leroy Merlin was
    cheaper.
