For some stupid reason they are claiming that it is a big deal to have
robust australopithicines coexisting with Homo over 2 million years ago.
Since the 1960's we've had the Oldivai gorge fossils from about 1.8
million years ago where robust australopithecines were found to coexist
with Homo. If robust australopithecines existed with Homo 1.8 million
years ago australopithecines would be expected to have existed with Homo
over 2 million years ago. The 1.8 million year old australopithecines
had ancestors, and so did Homo. We already knew it was bushy and not
linear because several species of australopithecine had been identified
over half a century ago.
