The famously right-wing National Rifle Association boast 5.5 million
members in the US. A socialist equivalent boasting only ten thousand
members isn't going to add much more trouble.

In fact the National Rifle Association seems to be heavily subsidised by
the small-arms industry to encourage Americans to buy more of their
production. A socialist equivalent would sell more weapons to a
different group and would make excellent commercial sense.

It's still a public health disaster - in that most of the people who get
killed by guns fire the gun at themselves. Attempted suicide by gun is a
lot more likely to succeed than attempted suicide by other means.

A few gun suicides seem to kill a few other people in the process of
getting themselves killed - gun control seems to make this quite a lot
less common in countries that go in for gun control.

Zerohedge isn't going to pay any attention to that - they exists to
peddle right-wing nonsense to people like Cursitor Doom who have a taste
for it - and do seem to try to make it as nonsensical as possible.

The Boston University Republicans wrote a letter on behalf of
conservative students, saying they all unsafe and intimidated and their >perspective isn't acknowledged and everyone needs to respect "diversity
    of thought."

Naturally they won't say what it is they actually stand for or what
views need to be respected, precisely. Only that their views must be >respected, whatever they are today.

Bill's got no excuse, but you're too young and callow to remember the
'old days' when people were able to discuss divergent views without
being screamed-down by a hoard of hysterical students (or worse - shot
dead by one of them). There once was a time when we would listen
respectfully to what our ideological opponents had to say, even if we vehemently disagreed with them. Here's one such example from the mid
1970s. We don't have to kill each other; there *is* a better way:
