I told everyone Amanda would freeze and Iga was free swinging and
confident due to low expectations.-a I thought maybe 63 63 : )
Amanda has the game to do well - good serve and fantastic bh - but
obviously isn't the best mover so Iga's spin exposed that a bit.
Plus it was their 1st meeting so no prior experience playing Iga.
Iga has a great record winning events 1st time in final and that
continued yesterday. Iga much more experienced in big matches.-a She
won the last 8 games v Bencic in semis so 20 in a row all up.
Damn, that's impressive!
It was so dominant we had to go back to prehistoric records for a
comparison.-a 1911 was the last time we had a 60 60 final.-a If this is
the only time she'll win Wimbledon it's a spectacular way to do it.
People will always remember 60 60 finals.
Whisper - you are a true blue tennis historian! I greatly appreciate
your posts.
Thanks. The older I get the more interested I am in tennis history. A
lot of it is forgotten to time as stakeholders die off, but when you
read the old books and listen to old interviews you realize how little
tennis has changed in some ways. I recently listened to a Don Budge
interview from the 70's and it blew me away - could have been listening
to a modern top 5 great. I've been building a big library of old tennis
books, some rare and out of print, recently paid $150 for a Helen Wills
book from 1920's.
