Good idea to call this now and get organized in time. The Armata will
be in. I'm undecided whether I'll do the Wakas/Guinea Gulfers again,
or switch to something else (Tito's Brothers? Warsaw Pact?)

I also agree with MH's suggestion to drop the double-scoring final
    week.

    Matchday 1
    Sep 16-18: CL
    and Sep 24-25: EL

    Matchday 2
Sep 30-Oct 2: CL, EL, ConfL

    Matchday 3
    Oct 21-23: CL, EL, ConfL

    Matchday 4
    Nov 4-6: CL, EL, ConfL

    Matchday 5
    Nov 25-27: CL, EL, ConfL

    Matchday 6:
    Dec 9-11

    (disregard: Dec 18: ConfL)

    Matchday 7:
    Jan 20-22: CL, EL

    Matchday 8 (double points)
    Jan 28-29: CL, EL

    Sounds like a plan:

    Preliminary Armata:
    Dimarco, Di Lorenzo, Gatti, Bastoni
    Barella, Fazzini, Tonali

Last year we were a bit late and disregarded the first CL and EL weeks, respectively, but with earlier planning I propose to combine those two
into Matchday 1. That would leave only the dedicated Conference League
    week just before Christmas un-UtNified.

    Preliminary

    CONCACAF ROCKERS

DF Cornelius (Rangers), Carter-Vickers (Celtic) Dest (PSV)

MF Eustaquio (POrto), Tani Olusaweyi (Villareal -he is a foward but UEFA thinks otherwise) Yunus Musah (Atalanta), McKennie (Juventus)

FW: David (Juventus) (Captain), Tajon Buchanan (Villareal), Ricardo Pepi (PSV), Promise David (Union SG), Folarin Balogun MOnaco)

Howling Gaels (Scotland, Ireland, N. Irelands, Wales) -short of forwards
    with no Conference league.

DF: Scales (Celtic), Souttar (Rangers), Tierney (Celtic), Robertson (Liverpool)

MF: McTominay (Napoli), Ferguson (Bologna), Gilmour (Napoli) McGregor (Celtic), Barron (Rangers), McGinn (Aston Villa) (Captain)

    FW: Idah (Celtic), Kelly (Celtic),

    Waffles (Belgium)

DF: Meunier (Lille), DeBast (Sporting), Theate (Frankfurt)
MF: Tielemans (Aston Villa) DeBruyne (Napoli), Vanaken (Bruges), Doku
    (Man City) (Captain)
FW: De Ketelaere (Atalanta), Openda (Juventus), Batshuayi (Franfurt),

Crazy match between Juventus and Dortmund: 8 goals in total, 2 UtN

Probably just a coincidence, but the first matchdays of the first two
editions of the 'new' Champions League brought the only instances in
CL history of eight goals being scored in one half - last year it was
Bayern v Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 (HT 3-0), and now Juve-Dortmund.

    Waffles 1 [Trossard]

Mbodji (Senegal and Slavia Prague) with a left-out Gulfer goal. I
could have used a goal-scoring defender...

    Mbodji with a brace? Seriously?

(alos, a left out Viking goal, and a non-left out missed Viking
    penalty)

Flurry of UtN goals in the first half of the second batch of matches:
Marquinhos, Palmer, Robertson and Cap'n 'Arry, of course.

    Standings after the Wednesday matches:

    Bungs 5 [Kane 2 (x2), Palmer]
    Flickers 3 [Adeyemi(x2), Nmecha]
    Gaels 1 [Robertson]
    Jogo 1 [Marquinhos]
    Rockers 1 [P. David]
    Waffles 1 [Trossard]
    Everybody else on zero.

Also, reminder that Match Day 1 continues tomorrow (last 6 Champions
League MD1 matches) and next week (Europa League). No need to use all
    your bullets now.

Bungs looking unstoppable, with 2 more from Rashford. Waffles get a
captain's goal from Doku and one from Vanaken. Flickers get on from
Burkhardt but miss one from Knauff. Vikings get the inevitable 2 points
from a captain's goal from Haaland. Onyedika for the gulfers.

I probably missed something though. >

Last year we were a bit late and disregarded the first CL and EL
weeks, respectively, but with earlier planning I propose to combine
    those two
into Matchday 1. That would leave only the dedicated Conference League
    week just before Christmas un-UtNified.

    Preliminary

    CONCACAF ROCKERS

DF Cornelius (Rangers), Carter-Vickers (Celtic) Dest (PSV)

MF Eustaquio (POrto), Tani Olusaweyi (Villareal -he is a foward but UEFA thinks otherwise) Yunus Musah (Atalanta), McKennie (Juventus)

FW: David (Juventus) (Captain), Tajon Buchanan (Villareal), Ricardo Pepi (PSV), Promise David (Union SG), Folarin Balogun MOnaco)
Not a lot left there. Just the two defenders and Eustaquio. Need to
    check lineups tomorrow. >

Howling Gaels (Scotland, Ireland, N. Irelands, Wales) -short of forwards with no Conference league.

DF: Scales (Celtic), Souttar (Rangers), Tierney (Celtic), Robertson (Liverpool)>
MF: McTominay (Napoli), Ferguson (Bologna), Gilmour (Napoli) McGregor (Celtic), Barron (Rangers), McGinn (Aston Villa) (Captain)

    FW: Idah (Celtic), Kelly (Celtic),
Lots of players left, but a distinct lack of forwards. Some research
    required on obscure players>

    Waffles (Belgium)

DF: Meunier (Lille), DeBast (Sporting), Theate (Frankfurt)
MF: Tielemans (Aston Villa) DeBruyne (Napoli), Vanaken (Bruges), Doku
    (Man City) (Captain)
FW: De Ketelaere (Atalanta), Openda (Juventus), Batshuayi (Franfurt), Fofana (Lyon), Trossard (Arsenal)
Meunier, Tielemans, Fofana the only ones left. Tielemans is injured.
    Will replace him tomorrow morning

Mbodji (Senegal and Slavia Prague) with a left-out Gulfer goal. I

    Mbodji with a brace? Seriously?

Yes, seriously. However, I keep on forgetting that Senegal is nowhere
near the Gulf of Guinea, so no left-out goals for the Gulfers.

    MF: Palmer, Gordon
    FW: Kane 2 (x2), Rashford 2

UEFA got Anthony Gordon as a forward.

    Flickers 8
    DF:
    MF: Nmecha, Osterhage, M. Eggestein
    FW: Adeyemi, Burkardt 2 (x2)

Missing Ansgar Knauff (MF) here even though Jesper picked him and you
    got him above.

    Gulfers 8
    DF: Ndicka
    MF: Onyedika
FW: Iheanacho (x2), Bile, Moffi, Otele, Durosinmi

plus for the record C|-dric Bakambu (DR Congo) as surplus forward

    Jogo 10
    DF: Yan Couto, Marquinhos
    MF:
FW: Igor Jesus (2) (x2), Martinelli, Robert, Alisson Santos, Edmilson, [Antony, William Gomes]

UEFA got Robert as a midfielder, so you can count one more Brazilian
    forward against the Jogo's efficiency.

    Rockers 4
    DF:
    MF: Weah, Tessman
    FW: P. David (x2)

    Vikings 7
    DF:
MF: Brunstad Fet, Berg Johnsen, S. Magn||sson
FW: Bassi (x2), J. Larsson, Haaland

No Danish players on the scoresheet this time around except for
    the own goal section, sadly.

    Waffles 5
    DF:
MF: Ait El Hadj, Vanaken, Doku
    FW: Trossard (x2)
UEFA got Trossard as a midfielder.
The Windmills would only have scored two more (R. Van Bommel and Van
    Dijk).

    Wonderland 2
    DF:
    MF:
    FW: Arnautovic (x2)

Fell free to correct any mistakes.

Did you leave out the Gaels here because Michael - once again - already
    chose the optimal line-up?

    Ciao,
    Werner

Thanks for these corrections. I'll fix them.

    Gulfers 8
    DF: Ndicka
    MF: Onyedika
FW: Iheanacho (x2), Bile, Moffi, Otele, Durosinmi

plus for the record Codric Bakambu (DR Congo) as surplus forward

Hmm...there are different definitions of the Gulf of Guinea (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Guinea#/media/File:Limites_du_golfe_de_Guin%C3%A9e-fr.svg),
the one that goes all the way south to Angola is a bit too broad for
me (also, I had considered Bakambu as an option, and dropped him for
    not being a proper Gulfer).

To remove all doubts, eligible Gulfers are players from: Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea,
Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe.

I now realise that I had my mental geography wrong.
I figured the mouth of the Congo River to be further
    north.

Yeah if the two Congos were included then one would
have to add Angola, too, and that just seems wrong.

    Ciao,
    Werner

I'm impressed by your mental geography. Managing the Gulfers has
finally made me learn the geography of Western Africa (and I now
realize that an alternative to the Gulfers could have been a West
    Africa team: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Africa: Guirassy, Mali
and Senegal players for Aubameyang and Cameroonians...probably would
have been a stronger UtN contender)
