    The Neymar effect?

Neymar has been playing well, but maybe his effect on the team was overestimated (by me, even).

    Tchau!

    The Neymar effect?

He left the field in tears, after what was the heaviest defeat of his professional career.

Mind you, that could have been worse, as Puma Rodriguez put a shot in
the bar in the closing minutes. Lucky Neymar, again he narrowly escapes
    a 7-goal defeat...

Phillipe Coutinho can now claim he has played in both Neymar's and
Messi's worst defeats (this one and Barcelona's 2-8 to Bayern in 2020).
And he scored twice in both.

    Best regards,

    One can hope? :-)

Seriously, Santos might escape because it looks like Juventude,
Fortaleza and especially Sport seem to be seriously set on booking their
trip to Serie B 2026, which in principle locks three spots and leaves
only one up (down?) for grabs.

But they certainly seem to be making the effort. Though they got some
actually very good results recently (such as wins over Flamengo and
Cruzeiro, who are battling at the top echeleons of the table, and an
important 6-pointer over Juventude), their run seems to be wobbly at
best and their squad, beyond Neymar, is far from being as good as they
    thought it was.

We're barely past halfway point, though, lots of water still to run
under the bridge so to say. Who knows, Neymar might decide that the eve
of WC'2026 is not the best time to add a relegation to his resum|-. There certainly seems to be more than enough time for them to get their act
    together if they're able.

    Best regards,
