Oh dear, the jersey advert "disease" has reached MSG...

    https://www.nhl.com/rangers/news/game-7-named-first-ever-official-jersey-patch-partner-of-the-new-york-rangers

I like Mark Messier but "Game 7" is just going to invite tons
of memes when the inevitable happens... or doesn't happen, as
    the case may be.

How long before NHL jerseys become like those in European
    leagues?!

My favourite Messier story is when his family, mom, dad and brothers and sisters, came in for a Sunday family dinner at a restaurant where I was
    a bartender.

Entitled, demanding and ran the waitress off her feet, paid the tab and
    left without a tip.

    Nice.

Yeah, I've heard it said he's a bit of "a douchebag" (to quote
my cousin in NYC who has met him)... so there's probably a
lot more of those types of story floating around.

Great NHL player in his day though... the six Stanley Cups says
a lot about his ability back then. I'm not sure exactly what his
"GAME 7" company does exactly, but there must be plenty of $$ in
    it for him.

I think the arrogance comes from his upbringing as his dad was a lot of
a douchebag. My first suspicions is "Game 7" paid him for his name and legacy.

I couldn't find out much about "Game 7", as I'd never heard of
them until yesterday. Supposedly Messier co-founded them, which
probably means he just let them use his name for some dollars
    and his legacy.

This is the centennial season for the Rangers so there will be
plenty of events going on, meaning plenty of publicity for "Game
7" and plenty of dollars to be rolling in...

I suppose at least "Game 7" are a hockey related business and
not a sports-book, crypto or casino company. I am just anti
adverts on NHL jerseys... it's bad enough looking at the Giants
jerseys over here. (Which are more advert than jersey!) So it's
the thin end of the wedge.

NYR Centennial Jersey launched... with our good friend Mr
    Messier front and centre.

Lovely jersey, nice and clean. The advert patch doesn't look
too bad on the shoulder... but I'm still against it on principle!

Oh goody, yet another jersey, another 250.00 out of a fan's pocket, it's getting ridiculous.

I agree about the advertising and it's going to get worse, a cross
between F1 and European hockey. The ads they are now projecting on the
boards for the TV fans viewing pleasure are also frequent annoying.

It's actually US$295, as I took a look yesterday! The good
thing is - for those with plenty of dollars - they can be
bought from MSG without the 'GAME 7' patch...

European ice is getting cluttered with adverts as well. Give it
a decade or two and you can probably expect to see something
    like this in the NHL...

Good lord that is hideous, how can you play on that surface without
    losing the puck.

Can't wait until we reach the same level /s. I might accept it if it
made the tickets affordable but somehow I don't see that happening.

Yeah, I don't like the Play Alberta thing either... hockey
jerseys should be sacred... put your ads around the rink by
all means, but leave the sweaters alone.

I do like the white and blue though...

The cash grab goes on and on...

It's more about the cash than the game to the owners... they're
even adding two extra games to the [NHL] regular season from the
2026/2027 season under the new CBA.

I know I'm not in North America but I don't recall seeing any
fans calling for more REGULAR SEASON games anywhere!

I would like to see the play-off system expanded with less regular
season games, not more. Possibly even a play-in system to make the
end of the regular season more interesting. That's the business end
of the season, when the excitement level and quality of hockey, ramps up.
