I wonder about Guy Fieri and his dives at the best of times. I just
watched the last 10 minutes of an episode of his show and it was good
for a chuckle. The woman cooking at one place was making a Rueben
sandwich. Instead of the Russian dressing called for in a Rueben she
used Thousand Island and proceeded to show how she makes "home made"
Thousand Island dressing. I don't think it is pedantic to suggest that
making two gallons of dressing in a restaurant is "home made".

She looked a little disappointed when he tried it and described it as a delicious corned beef sandwich. I wonder if someone had spoken to him
about eating like a human instead of unhinging his jaw like a python.

A lot of the eateries featured on that show specialize in massive
portions. If you object to the foods on this show you should check out Carnival Eats. I cringe at some of the crap I have seen on that show.

Nobody is obligated to eat the entire serving. There's a serious
obesity problem because food is easier to obtain than ever, and
exercise is not built into daily life as it was for our first
gazillion years of evolution. We're evolved for feast or famine,
    but the famine never arrives.

You'd be amazed. The most common flaw is a lack of balance between
corned beef and sauerkraut. They think they're being generous by
adding more corned beef, but they're just putting it out of whack.
Weak bread is another very common problem. And using cheap
    Thousand Island is the third.

I didn't expect much from the Reuben I had on Wednesday; I was
at a diner, not a deli. It was ok; not the worst I've had,
    but not the best.

No, they cannot. I have watched Fieri bite into a huge
sandwich; he simply opens his mouth to its fullest extent.

Possibly the most disgusting sandwich ever invented. Russian dressing
and Thousand Island dressing are like vomit, and sauerkraut makes it
even worse. The guy who invented it was probably secretly laughing at

the same; a wtf look on their face and the answer is no.

Nasty. A local deli makes what they call a "Georgia Reuben"

Horseradish sauce would have been a good idea. These days I'll refrain from adding cheese to a sandwich. I will put cheese on burgers and cheese sandwiches though. Cheese on a sandwich should be a main player, not an afterthought.

We had a lot of canned corned beef when I was a kid. I confess that I
liked it. However, once I experienced real corned beef sandwiches there
was no going back to the can.

Some Swiss cheese might elevate your sandwich a bit. How
about a bit creamy horseradish sauce if the grated version

There's nothing that will improve canned corned beef, apart from

Maybe he can't find actual corned beef brisket on his rock.

Kaneohe Safeway. Boar's Head corned beef in the deli, two different
kinds of raw corned beef in the meat department.

Prices don't seem to be excessively more than what I'd pay.
