I wonder about Guy Fieri and his dives at the best of times. I just
watched the last 10 minutes of an episode of his show and it was good
for a chuckle.-a The woman cooking at one place was making a Rueben sandwich. Instead of the Russian dressing called for in a Rueben she
used Thousand Island and proceeded to show how she makes "home made" Thousand Island dressing.-a I don't think it is pedantic to suggest that making two gallons of dressing in a restaurant is "home made".
She looked a little disappointed when he tried it and described it as a delicious corned beef sandwich. I wonder if someone had spoken to him
about eating like a human instead of unhinging his jaw like a python.

Looking at eat-fests like his shows why there is a serious obesity problem.

A lot of the eateries featured on that show specialize in massive
portions.a If you object to the foods on this show you should check out Carnival Eats. I cringe at some of the crap I have seen on that show.

Restaurants usually call that "house made".
Coincidentally, I had a Reuben on Wednesday. I'm quite sure the
dressing came out of a gallon-sized plastic jar labeled "Thousand
Island Dressing". Amazingly, it wasn't the worst Reuben I've ever
had.

I didn't expect much from the Reuben I had on Wednesday; I was
at a diner, not a deli. It was ok; not the worst I've had,
but not the best.

any of the north eastern states. they used cole-slaw instead of
sauerkraut. COLE-SLAW!

Nasty. A local deli makes what they call a "Georgia Reuben"
with turkey and coleslaw. It's pretty good. No idea why "Georgia".
I made a corned beef sandwich with a can of Palm Corned Beef. It was a bit salty
and greasy but the cabbage helped a lot. I don't recommend you do that but I'd
eat that again in a pinch.

Some Swiss cheese might elevate your sandwich a bit. How
about a bit creamy horseradish sauce if the grated version
is a bit too much for you?

putting the unopened can in the trash.

They're just called corned beef. Mostly, yoose snobs look down on
canned corned beef because you've always had refrigeration and the availability
of fresh beef. Canned corned beef is popular on the Pacific and Caribbean islands
as well as other parts of the world that appreciates canned meats.
