Sounds simple enough. Small incision, go home the next day.

It was found after my crash. So, as bad as that was, it may in the long
run prevent a stroke down the road.

That's true. My bypass was necessitated by a stent gone wrong but it
worked out for the best. Most people have to suffer a heart attack
before getting a bypass and I got mine without having to go through
that, plus the fact that it was the left main coronary artery AKA the
    Widow Maker.

No such thing as simple where general anesthesia is involved. Throw in
stent to major source of blood to the brain and IrCOd make sure all the bills were paid and relatives were warned. IMO, scary stuff.

Not to worry Ed. They are pretty good days. Besides, you don't have the

They often (usually?) put in a stent while

Whew, I would say so! I'm glad your doctor checked for this

Thanks for your words of encouragement.

There are four big arteries which serve the brain - you _could_ manage
with only two of them. Having the stent now, a fairly straightforward, time-proven procedure, can save you from much riskier open surgery later.

In 1995, it was unusual for young women to shave their public hair. Ten

That made me think of the old joke about the man who was being

what he attributed his long life to. The old man replied " I never

Artery is blocked about 80% so increases risk of stroke.

I've just seen my cardiologist and he is having me tested for
carotid blockages - just in case.

This is getting ominous. I just got a letter from my cardiologist today

It helps to be prepared. You never know when your number is up. You
could be killed in a traffic accident. You could have a serious stroke
or heart attack. You could have a unfortunate situation in a medical procedure. I knew two guys whose mother went to the doctor for an
allergy shot and had a fatal reaction to the shot. Fifteen years ago I
went for an angiogram and they screwed up trying to clear a blockage to
put in a stent. They pierced the artery and ended up having to leave the catheter in me until they got me upstairs to the operating room for a
bypass. I had been expecting to be home for supper but was in there for
a week and a half and lucky to be alive.

Sounds simple enough.-a Small incision, go home the next day.

It was found after my crash.-a So, as bad as that was, it may in the

No such thing as simple where general anesthesia is involved. Throw in
stent to major source of blood to the brain and IrCOd make sure all the >>> bills
were paid and relatives were warned. IMO, scary stuff.

I recently went through a rather more invasive version. Yes, I got all
the financial stuff taken care of, and final wishes were made known.

Yikes, that doesn't sound fun.-a I'm glad you're still here, hopefully
    all went well.

    Thank you!
So far, it seems to be going well. Painful, though.
I'm considering digging out my silk scarves - the main scar is rather
    long, and quite noticeable.

I was very impressed with the quality of the care provided by the
    Scottish NHS.

In certain parts of Asia, you're considered to be a one year old when you're
born. That's because they start counting at conception. My mother-in-law lied
about her age when she came in from Korea. Her birthdate was just some made up
number that my wife thought was real. By her way of counting, she'd be age -14
    at birth.

That makes sense. Some people think live begins when they guy unsnaps
    the girl's bra.

That sounds like a pretty good idea. I suppose when you can no longer get ridgid,
would be the day you die.
