I enjoyed the Damon Hill documentary that aired on Sky F1 yesterday
evening. It was a little superficial, I thought, but that didn't detract
from it too much at all; I think it was quite clear it was made for a more generalist audience rather than F1 obsessives, and it did cover a lot of
ground and was quite emotive.
I thought Damon and his wife both came over well, good eggs. The
documentary did a good job of conveying the shadow that his father's death
cast over his life, and you could see that it's still something that is
quite raw for him, even 50 years later.
I was quite surprised by the archive footage of Schumacher; I'd forgotten
just how much of a *prick* he was in the mid-90s! The 95/96 seasons were
when I got into F1 and I remember hating Schumacher, watching the doc last night really reminded me why...
It wasn't as good as the Jenson Button mini-series from a couple of years
ago, that was a fantastic documentary, but I'd recommend giving Hill a
watch, it's good stuff.
