Powerful local families and armed gangs rCo including some anti-Hamas factions backed by Israel rCo stepped into the void. Many are accused of hijacking humanitarian aid and selling it for profit, contributing to GazarCOs starvation crisis.
Nahed Sheheiber, head of GazarCOs private truckers union, said Hamas was acting against gangs that had terrorized people in areas controlled by Israel.
rCLThose gangs looted aid and killed people under the protection of the (Israeli) occupation,rCY he told The Associated Press, saying they operated in so-called red zones where Israel had ordered people to evacuate. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment.
Trump acknowledged that Hamas security officials had launched raids on rCLgangsrCY in Gaza, which he said he initially approved. He compared HamasrCOs policing to his own deployment of national guard troops to Washington as a measure designed to prevent crime.

Unfortunately, significant numbers of people at least claim to find god
in the slammer and some of those claims appear to be genuine. I seem to recall that Malcolm X was a relatively minor criminal who found Allah in jail. I'm sure there are other examples.
Of course people can find religion in many places. I once worked with a
guy from Alberta. He wasn't very interested in religion as a kid but
when he took a biology course at university and learned about living
beings and how complex and intricate they were, he decided that this couldn't happen by chance and had to be the working of some kind of God.
At that point, he got much more interested in his parents' religion of
Islam (they were from Egypt). When I worked with him, he was praying 5
times a day, right in the office three of us shared. On one occasion, we
all went out to lunch and we rode in his car. He played some kind of recording - CD or cassette - in a foreign language which I think was an
imam reading the Koran.

Speaking strictly for myself, I have no problem with people criticizing Israel if the criticisms are based on fact. But people who insist Israel
is committing genocide when it is not, or accuse it of making no efforts
to avoid killing civilians are not making fact-based criticisms.
The war would not have happened at all if Hamas and its allies hadn't attacked Israel on Oct 7 2023. The war could have ended at any time
since then if Hamas had wanted to end the fighting but they wanted the maximum number of casualties so that they could claim to be victims of
the mean Israelis. The Palestinian civilians could have found shelter in
the tunnels if Hamas had let them down there. The pro-Palestinian/pro-
Hamas protesters have supposedly been protesting the war but now that
peace is at hand - *if* all goes well - they haven't let up on the
protests at all. They are still demanding that the Intifada be globalized.

The same way anything else illegal is already policed. For a start you
close down all churches (demolish them, sell the land to developers,
etc.). Things like weird sects, criminal gangs, are already shutdown
(to some degree) when they cause problems - religious zealots are no different to those.
Obviously, like everything else that's illegal, there will still be
some morons who think they can do whatever they want anyway. Those
people would be prosecuted when caught.
Even if it was simply banned in public places (including not taught in public schools, etc.), so "believers" could only congreagte in small
groups within their own homes, it would be a massive improvement.
