• [OT] Israeli hostages released

I really thought Hamas would weasel out of it somehow but the living
hostages have been released. I didn't think the bastards would keep
their words but I'm sure it is all just part of some malevolent plan to
wreak even more havoc on Israel.

I suspect the nearly 2000 prisoners release by Israel in exchange are
going to form the nucleus of their next offensive on Israel. When that
will be is not yet clear but it is an inevitable as the setting of the sun.

These terrorists are just like cockroaches: no matter how many you kill,
there are always enough survivors to raise another batch to infest the
world again in a little while. The current war was so thorough that we
*might* get a slightly longer respite before the next war begins. At
    least I hope so.

The ONLY reasonable prospect for long term peace is if the West can get control of the education system used by the Palestinians so that the
coming generations of kids are NOT all trained to hate and kill Jews.
Even if they can manage that - and I'm sure Hamas and its allies will
fight that tooth and claw - I expect the parents to work very hard to brainwash the kids at home so even a decent school system may accomplish
    very little.

In any case, I hope the hostages and their families can move forward now without the terror that they must have felt the past few years.

In the end what decided the issue was when Trump that if Hamas DIDN'T
make peace he would supply Israel enough arms to "finish the job"
which they correctly interpreted as a Carthaginian outcome. (OK well
Rome took 100000+ slaves which I'm pretty sure nobody in Tel Aviv ever considered or wanted)

And then got the support of the Saudis and other Arab nations many of
    whom don't particularly like HAMAS.

Poor dears. Maybe giving billions and billions and billions to a
terrorist to buy arms doesn't lead to peace and prosperity in the Middle
East? I'm sure they'll learn a lesson from this and won't do it again.
