I just saw (British historian) Mark Felton's latest video about a
British police officer named William Fairbairn. I was struck by what a >badass Fairbairn was in his day.
He first came to note in the International Settlement of Shanghai where
he supervised and modernized most of the police force. He was the
inventor of the SWAT team and of bulletproof vests, important parts of >modern policing. He retired back to his native UK just in time to be
needed for WWII where he focused on training special forces of the UK
and US, including hand to hand combat.

I can almost see a TV series re-enacting his exploits. The man survived
200 gun battles in Shanghai alone!
