Paramount+ Renews Popular Sequel Series for Season 2
    ----------------------------------------------------
Paramount+ has officially renewed a popular sequel series for
    a second season.

Dexter: Resurrection premiered in July 2025. A sequel series
to Dexter: New Blood and Dexter, the show, which is developed
by Clyde Phillips, once again sees Michael C. Hall reprise his
role as Dexter Morgan. The cast also includes Uma Thurman as
Charley, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, and David Zayas as
    Angel Batista.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter: Resurrection is now
    officially moving forward at Paramount+.

What do we know about Paramount+'s Dexter: Resurrection
    Season 2?
The Dexter YouTube channel shared a video announcing Dexter:
Resurrection's renewal. Hall says in the video, "Hey, what's
up? It's Michael C. Hall, here. First of all, I just want to
thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the Dexter:
Resurrection ride with us this summer. Hope you enjoyed it.
And, secondly, we've been greenlit for another season. There's
more to come. The writers room is assembling now, and details
will be forthcoming. But I wanted to be the first to let you
    know that the story continues."

No other details beyond that for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2
have been announced at this time. A premiere date has not yet
    been set.

The renewal comes shortly after Paramount+ axed another Dexter
show, Dexter: Original Sin. The prequel drama was originally
renewed for a second season back in April; however, following
the Paramount/Skydance merger, the franchise rights went from
Showtime/MTV Entertainment to Paramount Television Studios.
Paramount Television Studios then announced that Dexter:
Original Sin Season 2 would not be happening after all.

The cast of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 further includes
Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as
Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective
Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suarez as Elsa Rivera, James Remar as
Harry Morgan, and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater.

The article writer is an idiot. First of all, the renewal was bullshit.
They weren't allowed to proceed in preproduction, not even writing
scripts. I don't even know if the actors were held for specific
    production weeks; probably not.

Second, rights did not "go from" MTV Entertainment to Paramount
Television. That was just internal reorganization following the merger.
It's effectively a rebranding and merger of MTV Studios and Skydance
Television as Paramount Television #3. Paramount Television #2 was set up
in 2013. In 2024, its management and production was transferred into
CBS Studios just before the merger, then shut down. From what I can
tell, CBS Studios and Paramount Television #3 remain separate sister
    companies in the new conglomerate.

What actually happened was the studio executive who had championed
Dexter Original Sin did not remain with the company. With merger
planning forcing everybody to cut production, it was easy to cancel a
program that had lost its champion.

It's too bad. The cast and acting were spectacular. They should have kept
it in production, despite my disagreements with massive retconning of
Dexter's character and Charlie Slater playing a very different incarnation
    of his father.

It seems to me that Clyde Phillips and the rest of the Dexter executive producers have an opportunity to resurrect Original Sin if they play
their cards right. I'm thinking about a plot for Season 2 (or 3) of
Dexter: Resurrection that causes Dexter to reflect very heavily on his
early days as a killer and requires major flashbacks. If they then have
the Original Sin actors play their parts in the flashbacks, they are, in effect, creating a backdoor pilot which, if well-received, may inspire management to revisit the idea of Dexter: Original Sin as its own series.
