The two leaders of the Freedom Convoy that attracted international
attention when it rolled into Ottawa during the Covid lockdowns had
their day in court a few months back and were convicted. Today, they
finally had their sentencing.

The sentence was surprisingly light given that prosecutors wanted them
to serve 7 or 8 years for MISCHIEF, a crime that normally earns little
more than a wrist slap. It seems the feds are *still* mighty pissed that >people dared to stand up to the government as they attempted to gain a >redress of their grievances. Fortunately, the judge was considerably
more lenient than the Crown this time around....

Well in fairness the convoy DID tie up traffic in the national capital
at all hours (including morning and evening rush hours) and were
honking their horns at all hours.
I was highly sympathetic to their cause but knew from the beginning--
that given their extended where they were driving the locals crazy
they should consider themselves lucky.
During the convoy my eldest daughter (who is a Carleton grad - which
Rhino knows but the rest of you probably don't is Ottawa's main
univeristy) was showing me where the main incidents were taking place
and having been there a couple of times as a tourist I could relate to
local frustration.
