Nothing like buying a money making franchise and then putting your own
stamp by changing much that the franchise was known for. If you don't
like what the franchise was known for then why not create your own
content based on your own ideas of taking the name and not much more
of a known product.

30 years ago I did the European theatrical teaser trailer for Goldeneye. It was the classic gun barrel hole showing Pierce Brosnan walking against the black foreground. He fired repeatedly at the camera blowing pieces of the foreground away until only the 007 was left and walked to the camera and
said his line
The woman in charge freaked at the 007 logo with the gun barrel on the
right hand side and declared she didn?t want any guns in the trailer.

It is odd how people insist on putting their own personal politics into fiction. James Bond is pretty clearly a spy fantasy, not intended to map onto reality. The idea of a famous spy is inherently ridiculous, and if I can swallow that, I can probably handle most of the rest.
ObTV: Superstore did a very good episode about guns, IMO -- quite balanced. It's s2e04, "Guns, Pills, and Birds."

It's not as if they don't know gorgeous babes are a key element in the
Bond franchise. The two I remember best are Jane Seymour (Live and Let
Die) and Lois Chiles (Moonraker - especially the final scene) though I
don't think either were the best Bond films.

Lois Chiles was absolutely gorgeous but Holly Goodhead was a dreadful
Bond girl; I'm not blaming Miss Chiles. Just a terrible, terrible
script.
