deliver unto us this message:
After an arduous workout, I watched:
Nothing.
What did you watch?
I watched more ST:TOS. This time it was "Who Mourns For Adonai?"
Kirk screws up another chance at paradise for humanity, but in this case
the guy was probably lying anyway. I don't recall Classical Greece as a paradise -- an admirable civilization, sure, but it had plenty of
interesting times.
I'd forgotten a genuinely funny joke at the beginning. ZpPbl'f zbnavat
gung n srznyr bssvpre jvyy varivgnoyl trg zneevrq naq
yrnir gur freivpr. Xvex ercyvrf, "V yvxr gb guvax bs vg abg nf ybfvat na bssvpre ohg nf...," urfvgngrf, gura pbapyhqrf jvgu "Npghnyyl, V'z ybfvat
na bssvpre." It's a cute line, and Shatner delivers it well.
I couldn't help wondering what might have happened if Kirk weren't so naturally belligerent. He becomes challenging upon first meeting Apollo. Imagine if, instead of bellowing that humanity doesn't bow, he had
*kindly* explained that humanity has outgrown the need for gods. He
could have become a powerful older brother to us, but Kirk yells at him
until he decides to follow his family to another dimension instead.
Starfleet really should consider some training in deescalation.
I also watched more Superstore reruns. I started watching a video essay
on the nature of consciousness, but I fell asleep at the beginning, so
I'll have to try again.
What did everyone else watch?
