Beloved '80s TV Show Gets Movie Reboot From Cobra Kai Creators
    --------------------------------------------------------------
Universal Pictures is developing a Knight Rider movie, based on
the classic 1980s action TV show, which starred David Hasselhoff.
To bring the project to life, the studio has enlisted Cobra Kai
creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald to lead
    the movie's creative team.

What do we know about the Knight Rider movie?
According to THR, Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald have entered
negotiations to pen the remake's screenplay. In addition, Hurwitz
and Schlossberg might also direct the Knight Rider movie, after
previously co-directing two Harold & Kumar movies and American
Reunion. Should their deals push through, the creative trio would
also serve as producers through their Counterbalance production
    banner.

The project will also be produced by Kelly McCormick and David
Leitch for 87North, along with Gary Barber and Chris Stone for
Spyglass. This serves as Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald's
second movie project as a trio, after previously producing
2021's Plan B movie. Before the Cobra Kai team's involvement, it
was previously reported in 2020 that Spyglass partnered with
James Wan to produce the remake. At the moment, it's unclear why
    Wan's version didn't move forward.

The original Knight Rider series was created by Glenn A. Larson.
It ran on-air for four seasons from 1982-1986 on NBC. The show
starred a 30-year-old Hasselhoff, who portrayed the role of
Michael Knight, a crime-fighting driver assisted by a smart
high-tech car called KITT, which was voiced by Emmy-winning
veteran actor William Daniels (Boys Meets World). After it
debuted, it became a multimedia franchise that resulted in three
short-lived spinoff series, merchandise, and multiple video
    games.

    Three short-lived spinoff series?

ThererCOs team Knight Rider 1997 and Knight Rider Smith Cho 2008.

Hmm. They seem to be counting something called code of vengeance and forgetting three TV movies including Hudson Leick.

Technically not true, despite what internet definitions like to think.

"Showrunner" is simply the person in charge. It could be a TV show, a
movie, a stage play, a circus performance, a gallery opening, etc. -
basically any big event or display. Hence where they are sometimes
called is called a "stage show", a "cinema show", "circus show", etc.

Yeah, no rCo No one calls movie producers "showrunners". That term in Hollywood is pretty much reserved for people (EPs) who are in charge of
    TV series.

There is basically no equivalent term or role in movies. Probably
because movies are considered to be much more "director-driven" than "producer-" or "writer-driven" as compared to television.
