• What Did You Watch? 2025-07-03 (Thursday)

I guess I should probably throw one of these up (better late than never)...

Yesterday, before work I saw part of the "live" episode of Y&R on OTA TV
    - I went back and watched all of that episode later - basically, as I
was fearing they wrote Cole off the show by killing him off (I bet that
was the actor's doing - he probably only agreed to come back for a year
if they killed off his character at the end). After work I also went
back to watch older Y&R episodes (from 2 weeks ago?...) that I had missed.

Before going to bed, I also saw part of a L&O:SVU rerun epie - it was
some malarkey about how they accidentally swept up a
developmentally-disabled man in a sting of pedophiles, and the new
detective cookie-du-jour (Silva?) was all guilt-ridden about it and gets Benson to browbeat everyone else into letting the man go. Meh.

And then I couldn't turn the teevee off fast enough when "L&O:
    Mothership" came on! Blech!!

    What did you watch?

    What did you watch?

    I watched:

The Old Guard (Netflix) 2020 direct to Netflix movie starring Charlize
Theron as a Highlander, I mean immortal, who leads a team of several
other immortals. They work as mercenaries with hearts of gold or
something. I don't know. Anyway they are hired to rescue some
kidnapped girls but it turns out to be a trap by an evil pharmaceutical company that wants to capture them to dissect them for their healing abilities. There's also a new recruit who is new to immortality which
gives an excuse for Charlize to provide exposition throughout the movie.

The Old Guard 2 (Netflix) New 2025 direct to Netflix sequel starring
Charlize Theron and I assume the same returning actors from the first
movie who must this time go up against two evil Highlanders, I mean
immortals, lead by Uma Thurman. Uma is evil because reasons. This was
mostly background noise, then it suddenly ended without resolving
anything. So I guess they must be planning on a part 3 to wrap up the
story. It would have been one thing if they actually filmed part 3 and
it was sitting in a can (or hard drive) waiting to be released, but as
far as I'm aware this is it. So if you watch this expecting any type of resolution to the story, prepare to be extremely disappointed. But who
knows, maybe in another 5 years they'll crank out a sequel and let us
    know how it all ends.

They’ve announced the sequel just yesterday, which is really annoying. I guess if people hadn’t liked this one, they would have left you hanging forever.

Thanks! Hopefully it gets released soon since I really don't want to
have to revisit the first 2 movies, but I *do* want to know how it ends.
